Hey Guys;

I'm curious how everyone is kitting out their DA50 rifles in 50BMG from Canada Ammo. So I thought I would put a thread up so we could all share links to the available products we can use to complete our rifles. Oh ya, I went with the 32" version, even though I liked the look of the 26 better. I wanted to make sure ALL the powder is burned by this bad boy! And they say you need 29" to do that, chuckle!

Okay, I'll start. I went with this A2 compatible butt stock from site sponsor CTC Supplies. It was more reasonably priced than the Magpul PRS option... And, I did not want, nor do I suggest a collapsing 6 position stock on a 50BMG, chuckle!

https://ctcsupplies.ca/collections/stocks/products/luth-ar-mba-1-rifle-stock

Now the search is on for:
(1) 20 MOA base / rings
(2) A scope, I was thinking about either a Leupold Vari-X III 6.5-20x50 or a Nightforce NXS 5.5-22x56
(3) A bipod

Post your links gentlemen, let's help each other out! :ar15:

Cheers
Jay
P.S. Pic shamelessly 'borrowed' from Gatehouse.

good man.
i was wondering the same thing.
A2 compatible butt stocks seem to be in short supply in canada right now.
also, who has the best deal on ammo these days? $6.50 per round...ouch.
thanks!

tagged for interest.

I have my DA50 mated to a Windham Weaponry lower which is holding up well. PRS buttstock with a slip-on recoil pad which make it more comfortable to shoot for guests and my 16 year old son. Scope is a Millett fixed 10x. Recoil is a bit stouter than my HS50 as the gun is lighter and the muzzle brake is almost as effective as the massive HS50 break. LRA bipod.

If you plan to shoot the .50 regularly - handloading is practically a must! Down to around $2.50/round with handloads ($1.00 surplus pulled projectile, $1.00 worth of powder per shot, .40 primer).

I have found that the cheap American Eagle is pretty hot for this gun - mine has a fairly snug chamber. Hornady AMAX rounds are amazing, but $9 each fully loaded!

Canada Ammo has IMI and PMC, and a 'bulk' buy or 80 or 200 rounds gets you down to about $5.70 per round plus tax.

Here's a shot of my son shooting my DA50 last summer - frame grab from a video - you can see the muzzle brake doing its thing!

I have purchased the PRS buttstock as well. Which slip-on recoil pad did you find that is a proper fit?

I am still waiting for mine in the mail.
What is everyone doing for a case or carry bag?

My rifle is mailing today! :dancingbanana:

I'm curious about a case that would fit this thing as well! Anyone?

For a mount, I went with the NIGHTFORCE - EXTENDED UNIMOUNT, 1.375" - 20MOA - 30MM. TITANIUM

Pricey, but... What isn't about this 50BMG game? Chuckle

My DA50 was shipped in a Flambeau single rifle case. With the scope mounted and the lower detached from the upper and the bolt handle unthreaded, the whole kit fits into a Flambeau large (double) rifle case.

As an AR, it's quick to assemble at the range.

Really? I've got a PRS stock with an MDT adjustable butt plate sitting in my spare parts bin.

Figured there were tons of these out there....

PMC .50 BMG at The Shooting Edge for 52.95 a box of 10.
Then apply discount code AmmoKate for 10% off the top.

Works out to $47.66 a box + GST and shipping.
They had a bit more than 400 rounds left this morning.
If it does not show in stock online, it might be worth a phone call to TSE to make sure they don't have any more not entered onto the webstore.

No I don't work there and am not affiliated with them in any way.

NightForce called me back... They are advising I go with the 1.5" high Unimount with a 56mm bell objective, NOT the 1.375" high...

I have modified my order with Hirsch Precision.

We can help you with a better scope rail.

And a 50 cal proof bipod.
And better rings.

I've been quite happy with my DA50 build for under 400 yards as finding good back stops are few and far between. I used a Magpul MOE riflestock with an upgraded recoil pad (The factory pad was a donkey kick to the shoulder by comparison). The upgraded recoil pad is produced by MDT. The grip is also fairly comfy - an ergo grip with palm shelf. Lastly, a basic 10x40 SWFA SS optic to keep the price down. I went with their basic cantilever mount as they were not very helpful in figuring out ring heights. It's been a great rifle for testing ballistics and putting a smile on new shooters faces, but I haven't set it up to see its actual capabilities.

Looking sharp. I think I might have to get in the game.

How do you find the reliability overall? I was a little nervous about a Chinese .50 upper, but if no one has blown up yet, i'm game.

How do you find the reliability overall?

Waiting for mine to arrive, but Gatehouse has several hundred through his DA50, all factory ammo.

I doubt I will fire mine tons, so it will be all factory ammo for me. IMI & PMC for plinking, as well as Hornady AMAX for target shooting.

Cheers
