It does look like the 26", I think they look better... BUT, I went with the 32" to ensure that all the powder is burnt from the 50BMG cartridge and max velocity.

Not sure if this DA50 will be a 1 mile rifle, it is after all an entry level 50BMG. But, I'd like to have the MOA to be able to LOB a 50 projectile 1 mile!

My biggest issue is with firing pins. It may just be a problem with the original bolts, but part of the bolt assembly is held in place with a snap ring. Twice now, my snap ring has came out of its groove allowing the firing pin to travel back too far. If I don't keep an eye on the bolt face to see if the firing pin is seated properly, the firing pin will get jammed up behind the bolt face and mushroom the tip. The first one CanAm replaced, but now I just file down the sides of the firing pin where it mushroomed to allow it to seat properly again. I hope CanAm has fixed this problem with newer models.

I had the the same problem with my gen one Cone. I up-sized the snap ring by a smidgen. Never had a problem since. They were a rare size so I had to buy a bulk 100pc pack lol. I have 99 to spare and would be willing to give you a few if you want. No charge. PM me and I'll mail you some.

From what I have determined the upper is made considerably closer to home, the barrel is US made and I can assure you the lowers we build are made right here in Calgary as are the 1s we made specifically for Canada Ammo.

The Dominion Arms .50 Upper is made in the US? Canada?

I just assumed that since DA is generally rebadged Norinco, and that I have never seen a DA gun not made by Norinco I figured this DA upper would also be of Chinese origin. I know you make your parts here. It's just the DA upper I was wondering about.

I honestly can't say for fact but from the conversations with the owners of C.A. I am led to believe that the upper parts are made in Canada. The barrel I know for fact is U.S. made. I have the CAD files for the uppers and there is nothing to indicate made in China, which is not definitive for sure, but typically there are translation errors when a CAD file is converted to North American standards. This would be a question for C.A.? But does it really matter in the grand scheme of things?

It IS a 26" barrel. I have several 50s and wanted a "CQB 50" as well as to have a complete rifle based on our lower. I keep a sample of everything we make as part of my collection and just did not want the restriction of having a long barrel taking up room in my taller safe. My Nemesis has several barrels ranging from 20" (not including suppressor) to 34" (not including brake).
I find more often than not I run a 28" barrel as has a better balance and feel and has no problem getting well past the 1 mile mark with it. Using H50BMG there is no muzzle flash which would indicate an complete powder burn is being achieved.
My heavy bench 50 has a 34" barrel and the velocity difference between it and my favored 28" barrel on my Nemesis shows under 100 FPS velocity difference when chrono-ed side by side. If time permits this year I may take all 5 Nemesis barrels and chrono them all with the same ammo just for S&G.

Guys I screwed up. When I mounted my scope I grabbed a set of rings that it turns out were in the wrong box. The box said High but in fact the rings are EXTRA high so 1.375" top of rail to center of ring.:redface:

I was just asking how the upper was as for the price it's not a bad excuse to build something. I was just confused on the origin and was looking for some thumbs up.

NO WORRIES! This is what we call a 'good catch' & was addressed promptly, no harm no fowl! :rockOn:

EXTRA high ATRS rings 1.375" for the 5.5-22x56 NightForce NXS on the DA50.

Try not to shoot it all in one day at the range!

The XM33 was a bit hot in my upper - the chamber at the neck was a bit tight. Consider bringing a can of Hornady spray lube and put a light trace on the neck before firing if you find the first couple of shots are difficult to extract (not a sticky bolt lift / primary extraction, just pulling the bolt back and withdrawing the neck of the case). Likely not an issue with the improved camming action of the Gen2 bolt.
