Spent the entire PM at the range, testing out a few reload and stock ammo velocity at 100 yards, the results are following:

Norinco 5.56mm M193 Ball, the nork 223 is actually 5.56 NATO, they are pretty hot, even from a 14.5" M4 barrel I can get up to 3100 FPS, they are 3-5" MOA Ammo.

Here are my reload, close to MOA, I am amazed by the accuracy of the 14.5" norinco barrel, I used optimal barrel time method to find the right powder charge (QuickLoad Software), the result speaks itself.

At any given price point, the flat base Soft Point bullet should shoot better than the FMJ.

This is a generality. A given rifle will have its preferences and groups can vary with the load.

I ran a similar test last week, and the Hornady FMJ grouped better than the Hornady SP, but the powder charges of the two loads were different. I was just sighting in a new rifle.

Considering them use the same GFM hammer-forging machines as everybody else, it comes as no surprise. We have had several reports of great accuracy from this batch.

We also have barrels for sale for those that want to swap out their cheap button-rifled barrels ;)

Do you have a hammer forged 18" medium weight style barrel?

Nice shooting!!

I've also had excellent results with handloads in my El Cheapo Norinco 14.5". I too was amazed at the large difference in accuracy between my reloads and Federal/Remington factory ammo.

Don't you just love the feeling of satisfaction that gives you!?

I know it's a bit off topic, but I did a test with the reg remington 308 hunting ammo, and it's 3 moa. Then with my reloads, it's half moa. (rem 700P in AICS)

Now back on topic, my norinco also shoots really well, never tried factory ammo, it only gets fed with my reloads (not cheaper than norinco ammo but at least they shoot better). Did not do precision tests so I cant say, but it shoots pretty tight. my 223 is volumetric throws only with FMJ though, so you cant expect the precision of a .02gn weighted charge and match bullet.

I haven't done any serious accuracy testing of mine, just some fun shooting with some older Nork yellow box I had lying around and South African ball. Thus far with a Bushnell 1X optic (the ACOG clone) it has proven to be absolutely reliable in function and minute of zombie in terms of accuracy. I will be testing accuracy during the summer with handloads. But, just in response to the quote, can I assume by "this batch" you are including the ones that were recently on sale this winter/spring? If so, it's good to know that I scooped one with a potentially very accurate barrel for way less than others would expect.

That Norinco ammo is pretty random stuff. I found it patterns itself. I was shooting plenty of it on the weekend and I'd get a half-inch group (50 yards) if I shot enough of it..! Group here, group there, group over there.. and a bunch of fliers.

The DA 556 helped me and my team win the Relay Stage at PoCo's Zombie-Day match this month. I really enjoyed the puzzled looks on everyone's faces when they asked what I was running and I told them it was a Norinco AR using Norinco Ammo. I think some of the guys' optics cost more than my rifle. LOL. :p

Don't suppose you can buy the barrels with FSB installed? Some very respectable groups for a 14.5" lightweight.
