DAA Belt with ELS clips

Agree with Tomo333. If you get into IPSC, 3 Gun, etc, you will likely end up with a belt rig for each sport.
Once you get your belt rig set up the way you want it for one sport most folks want to keep it that way and find it’s not worth the effort to be constantly changing it up for matches, practices and dry firing.

I run 3 belts. A dedicated IPSC belt with 5 CR speed mag pouches and a single ghost magnet at the front I use Barney mags and table mag pick-ups. A 3 Gun belt with 3 different shotgun caddie configurations that hold 26 or 28 SG shells and bladetech Rifle and pistol mag pouches that can be easily removed for IPSC shotgun matches. And third belt is for IPSC rifle/Service Rifle and assorted matches.

Find above 3 belt system works well for me.

So what brand are the belts/gear?

So what brand are the belts/gear?

Belts: are Bladetech, Ghost and Double Tap Sports custom belt. Ghost and Double Tap Sports belts are much stiffer than the Bladetech and are the ones I use as my dedicated IPSC and 3 Gun belts.

Shotgun caddies: 2 - 10 shell carbon Arms pinwheel caddies and an 8 shell Ghost caddie. CA Pinwheels caddies can be custom configured for quad or duece loading and like the swivel ability of the Ghost caddy for easier quad shell removal from any position.

AR and pistol mag pouches I use for 3 Gun and IPSC rifle matches are all the the bladetech polymer Double mag pouches with the quick release snaps so I can easily add or remove if necessary at a match ...although that’s rarely necessary. The double mag pouches enable you to get more mags on your belt without using up as much space as the single pouches.

As stated earlier CR Speed Pistol mag pouches are what I use on my dedicated IPSC HG belt.

And magnet on my IPSC belt is not a ghost as I thought but a CR speed magnet which I like a lot better. Very powerful magnet that easily holds 2 and up to 3 mags for the stages that require table mag pick-ups.

All of my gear has held up very well over many matches and have no complaints.

Sniffer all the gear you have researched is good gear and will work. My point is most guys/gals that shoot multiple sports on a regular basis eventually end up with a dedicated belt for each.

I've spent a bit more time researching this (would be so much easier if I could handle/wear the gear)

The comments here have given me much food for thought (thanks everyone who contributed), and I'm now torn between two belts/setups (one dedicated to IPSC and one for everything else) or one with the same brand for everything

If I go with the same brand for everything it'll be DAA because their belt is supposedly the stiffest and I like their holsters, pouches etc best, I`ll then use the Alpha Rail quick attach system to swap things in and out as required. Only part I'm not sure about with their gear is the shotgun caddies - they look flimsy compared to the Safariland offerings and there aren't as many options for how many rounds they can hold etc. One upside is that they are easily adjustable for different lengths of shotgun cartridges with a simple thumb wheel (this is constantly mentioned as an outstanding feature in the reviews) and they have flat plates effectively "clamping" the shotgun rounds from sliding outwards (the only brand I've seen with this arrangement. It would be more secure I imagine but the question is would having to pull the shells out from between the two end stops make removal harder and become a hinderance?

Has anyone used these? Are they flimsy? Do the shells remove easily with the end stops fitted correctly (tight-ish)?

If I end up with two belts the second will be a Safariland ELS and the shotgun caddies will be their Safariland 086 type. Problem with that is that I really like the adjustable DAA rifle mag pouches so I`d need to be sure they'd work on the Safariland belt......

Round and round it goes.....

Regarding the shotgun caddies and being adjustable for different shell lengths...I’ve never run into a match situation where I needed to adjust for shell length, so that wouldn’t be a factor in my decision.

I have not used the DAA shell holder but I have used a bunch of others. I use and swear by Invictus Practical 8x2’s with tek-lok’s. They are great for load 2’s or quad loads, hold the shells effectively and ensure easy access. I also have a couple of the Safariland 4 ups for weak hand loads and if I ever need to separate Shotshell and slug, or buckshot...

I have a carbon arms backbone and a DAA twins setup. The carbon arms is great for loading deuces, but, i was struggling with quads, i cant pull them out well enough as quads. The DAA pull free better, and also seem stronger, as they dont have any fingers to break off. I like the DAA enough i ordered 2 more and will be running 3 DAA twins. I dont have long term experience yet, but i like them a lot.

I run one DAA belt for ipsc and 3 gun. I have 5 pistol pouches running bullets out set up for production, and then use the alpha rails to add ar pouches and shotshell carriers for 3 gun.

Thanks for your input Scar, I'm very much leaning towards DAA for everything and switching it up for whatever the event requires with Alpha Rail clips but I had some apprehension towards the shotgun caddies as there isn't much info about them (I'm thinking of the twin quad loaders that holds 8 shells)

One thing most of the top US 3 gunners seem to agree on regarding quad loading is that when you grab 4 your thumb needs to be able to land on the primer end of the shells - is this possible with the end plates on the DAA? There is a little of the end left exposed but its hard to gauge if its enough

Is the DAA caddy frame solid or flimsy? It don't look as well put together as the Safariland 086s (the main body of the Safariland caddies is one solid piece of machined aluminum where the DAA has several pieces of skinny looking metal connected together with single bolts where they intersect) but I'm guessing its good as you've put your money where your mouth is

I have not seen a safari land to compare, but i do not feel the DAA is flimsy at all. The one you pictured is what i have. I wouldnt say i get my thumb on the primer until they come out of the holder, but my thumb does land where it should once they are free.

I find the magnet system holds them very securely while still being easier to pull free then the carbon arms.

Also having a top and bottom plate they never end up with a gap between the shells.

Perfect.

Out of curiosity am I correct in thinking that there is a fast thumb screw type adjuster on the shogun caddies for fine tuning different lengths of shells (ie - no tools required) or is it a screw?

I`m gonna buy 2 or more likely 3 of these shotgun caddies and go from there - worst case is that I don't like them so I sell them and pick up something else (Safariland 086 & matching ELS belt) but I'm pretty sold on all their other gear (belt, pistol mag & rifle pouches, holster etc etc)

As it stands the list is looking like:

1) DAA premium belt
2) Alpha X holster with insert for Shadow 2, thigh pad & muzzle support
3) 2/3 x DAA twin quad loader shotgun caddies
4) 2 x DAA AR-15 Racer pouches
5) 5 x Race Master pistol pouches & maybe one/two standalone magazine magnets or some combo pouches with magnets fitted
6) Multiple DAA Alpha Rail clips for easy addition/removal as required

Yes there is thumb wheels to adjust length.

I have the alpha x, i used the muzzle support, but took it off, i didnt like it, love the alpha x. No comment on the thigh pad, have not tried or seen it.

Rest is basically what i have, i like the round magnets, i have to on my racemasters, and 2 or 3 on alpha rails i can move around.

I have 2 racer ar15 pouches and ordered 2 more. I plan to have 2 behind mag pouches, and 2 i can interchange on front with shotgun caddies depending on the stage. I want to have the angle i want set up differently for each spot.
