DAC 394 (Sig 228 Clone) Kit

... In case anyone wants more mags ...

I just ordered some spare mags from Dlask for my 394. It sounds like they still have about a dozen left. If you can get past the plastic base pad issue then they are likely the cheapest option for these guns... (why did I just bother grinding out my mag well ridges  )

My base pad is starting to crack so I'm going to give a try at fabricating a sheet metal cap with a bonded on rubber bumper. Hopefully I'll post an update if/when I make some progress. My plan is to give TDSA a try this spring with my DAC so a full rig will be needed.

And now for something completely different...

I played around with the image in IrfanView to enhance the color a little and compensate for the overcast day... The guts aren't in it as evidenced by the trigger in the first pic.

I used Duplicolour Metalcast paint in Blue and Dark silver over a bead blast finish. It's not quite the result I was hoping for and looks more like paint than anodizing. I had a can of base coat but didn't use it thinking the bead blasting would provide an adequate base. After an evening in the oven and overnight to dry I got uppity to assemble it and see how it looked. The finish is still soft and I marred it up a bit installing the front sight. I hope it hardens up as it wont last long as is :(

I may just strip it and park it as originally planned but I wanted to try something different and had the cans around from another project that never was completed.

P.S. Yes I accidentally picked up a 226 mag instead of a 228 mag

Howdy folks ! Long time, no see...

I've been away for quite some time but I finally got my new slide assembly to replace my broken breechblock. (Dlask doesn't sell just the breechblock, gotta get a whole slide)
New breechblock doesn't fit nicely into the old slide and the new slide doesn't fit on my receivers rails properly so I'll have to work on that for a bit, but I'm pumped about getting my 394 up and running again. :D

I wouldn't suppose that any of you kind gentlemen would have any spare roll pins laying around? It's been impossible for me to locate any :(

Please send me a PM if you have an inner and outer (or better yet, a few extras) to spare... I'll gladly pay for them. I'd hate to have another breechblock break on me.

Good to hear from you again novega !! How much did the new slide set you back ???

PM me your address and I'll put a few roll pins in an envelope for ya !

The new slide was $20....with a whopping $15 worth of shipping:redface: Oh well, I guess thats still pretty cheap considering it's pretty much the whole top half of the gun.

PM inbound

Thanks again

Still working on mine! haha

It sat in a box for quite a long time but I recently got going on it again. I have just about everything done now except I managed to mess up my hammer strut so I am contacting Dlask about whether or not they have a spare I can buy. Hopefully they do and I can get everything working.

I've had this thing assembled and disassembled about 1000 times now it seems like lol...

This is just the state I left it in tonight... I had it totally assembled earlier when I was trying to figure out my strut issue.

I just sold mine about a month ago for the $200 I paid for it. I loved the learning experience. Heck I can name every part in your photo and I know what their function is. LOL.

I have run around 5000 rounds through mine now
And have gone through a few parts... Dlask had lots of spare parts left as of a few months ago. If you are ordering a new strut, pickup some spare springs as well. I broke the takedown/hold open spring a while back and got multiple spares for all the "odd" shaped (non-coil) springs. Make sure you use good quality roll pins for your breach block. I has a failure and had to replace my breach block (got a new top end from Dlask).

I've got to get started on mine. I bought it as a winter project and winter is here and it still in the safe

I know the feeling! I've had two in the safe, still in boxes, since about July 2009. Forgot all about them until I saw this thread. Now one is out on my bench and started:D
