Dagger SAP6 - Mag-fed 12-Gauge review

On second recollection, IIRC from my early inspection of the gun, there is actually a milled slot in the top inside of the receiver, and some kind of lug protrudes from the bolt when the pump is fully forward, and will not retract by any force on the bolt, but only by pulling the pump handle rearwards, thus locking the action during firing. I will double check myself for any errors in my memory tonight.

That how just about all pump shotguns work. A small square lug protrudes from the top of the bolt into a locking recess in the receiver or barrel extension. The slide release's sole purpose is to prevent the slide from moving back before or during the firing process. Without a slide lock (or a spring holding the thing forward) the bolt could very easily be unlocked by 1/16" and the gun would not fire. Most firearms cannot fire until they are 100% in battery. Some bolt actions can be "shot closed", but the firing pin cannot contact the primer until the gun is at least 95% in battery.

he did on the first mag, I missed that.

Im just curious because I had a Fabarm with spring assisted fore end and never once had an issue with short stroking. Maybe this has more spring tension.

Sorry, I missed your reply.

The first was a short stoke the first time, and it caused the shell to pop up at a funny angle, so I had to jiggle it for a second for it to straighten up. The second one was a bit different since the shell appeared to catch on the edge of the chamber, but again it was easily fixed, and I have not seen that happen again yet.
