Gentlemen,
This file gives us some idea of production of the M1 Garand and the number of tests and checks before issue to Stores. This also gives us a look at numbers for production.

Please give some feedback on this Data File. Let's hear what you think.

The really bad news is I have the weekly and monthly reports also. By Production and Serial Numbers. Really weird data.

Warning, before you go to my sites lower your volume as the opening page contains a sound file which has a loading and firing of the M1 Garand. So if you're at work or home it may be wise to check your volume control.

16 Guns in one day were built if I read that right. Kinda slow in my mind for producing rifles.

16 Guns being made with a total of 45 being "Tested", built or moved around. That doesnt sound like they were doing much work to me anyways. Almost sounds like they were not taking the building of the M1 too seriously yet.

If they made 16 guns from "componates" and they have 45 at this time in different stages of being manufactured and "tested" before going to stores and other operations sounds like from start to finish it took the Armoury 3 days to get a rifle made up.

I read that the first overseas issue of the M 1 rifle was in the Phillipines...whether they were already issued to the troops prior to the Japanese attack in Dec 1941.....or were issued during the fighting...how many M1 rifles were issued would be interesting...i have seen photo's of U.S. troops in the Phillipines with the 03 Springfield...no photo's of M1 rifles been carried...Filipino troops were using the Model 1917 Enfield....pretty heavy rifle for the small framed Filipino trooper.

General "Dug out Doug Macarthaur wrote that the M1 was "giving great service."
