A friend picked one up at a garage sale & dropped it off at my house. It's great fun and quite accurate.
The friend seemed to think that it was a rare and valuable gun( something he read on-line ). I'm not so sure, but it is a nice handling gun & seems well built.
If anyone reading has more info or even an opinion on this air pistol, their comments are welcome.
Sorry no pic's at this time.
Thanks

The 717 is common, but the 747 is much less common because they were more expensive. The 747 has a better trigger and a a Lothar Walther barrel. They have been in production for about 40 years, and are still available new.

There was also a 777 which had much better metal sights, and wooden grips. It was a couple times the price of the 717/747 and was discontinued a number of years ago.

We have a couple, they are a fun gun to shoot, and even the 717 is very accurate.

the only difference i know of is the trigger on the 747 is adjustable
both have walther barrels

i still have mine after many years due to the fact it only needs the occasional o-ring s (bolt and piston) try silicone rings from a hydraulic shop and they will last nearly forever, and its been flawless otherwise, taken many a black squawky bird

my piston was horrendous, the first time i took it apart i was shocked to see almost 1mm of flashing on the face, i took this off with a file and adjusted the piston to bottom out, accuracy and take-down power were easily doubled

as for pellets, mine could care less about match grade, it loves the crossman pellets, stay away from thin skirt pellets like the daisy as the bolt will cut a ring of lead off (and daisy pellets are turds)

its not very humane to try taking gophers or squirrels with these, but birds drop every time with a crossman destroyer pellet firing out the 717
