My son has joined the Army Cadets, since they use the Daisy 853c I was looking at getting one for him so he can practise his marksmanship skills.
Anybody knows where I could source one?

Your input is much appreciated
Cheers!

Try ELLWOOD EPPS (Site sponsor……1-705-689-5333?). Im sure they had either the 753 or 853 but that was a few months ago.

You might want to take a look at the Avanti Champion 499.
About half the price and the Reviews seem to be very Positive re accuracy at 10m

If his intention is to be competitive... He'd be better off with the 753 (Available at Goble's )
- The challenge in shooting a good score, will be him being able to return to the same position after cocking the rifle.
- The 753 is pretty much the same as the 853 (except for the buttstock), so he'll get used to the loading/shooting sequence
- For pellets H&N Sport will do just fine, grouping and on-score targets can be had from nikkonos on fleabay

Position, position, position. Can’t stress this enough when trying to shoot good groups and score with a Daisy. The cadets can shoot amazing well with these rifles. One reason is that they have good eyesight and the other reason is because they are not aware that their rifle is crap.
Work on prone first, groups only, no scoring rings on the target. Once he can shot one hole 5 shot groups then center the group and have him start shooting for score.

Congratulations to Mike. I am trying to find one for my son, but it seems like all sold out. Anyone knows the other sources? Thank you.

In Nova Scotia at least the cadets can only shoot a 853 or 953, at the recent Provincial shoot they convened a jury to decide if my girlfriends daughter could use her 953. I bought her a 753 back in 2018, but they are not allowed to be used. It makes no sense as the action is identical to the 853 except it is single shot, they aren't allowed to use the magazines anyway. The 953 is the same action as the 853 with the target stock from the 753 and a daisy made barrel.
She won 5 medals between zones and provincials this year.
She is now shooting a Feinwerkbau 700 aluminum with the intent to compete in civilian competition.

I've been on the same hunt for my son for the past 18 months... Seems like they're sold out EVERYWHERE, and I'm usually very good at sourcing items!

I've bought 2 953s since January and I'm always looking for more. My girlfriends daughter's cadet group hasn't got much for rifles. If I can buy ones and get them shooting decent I lend them to the kids to practice at home with.
Neither 953 I bought this winter (one was $240 including shipping one was $300 picked up) were fit to shoot as purchased. The $300 one didn't have the single shot adapter or any clips, when shot over the chrono it was shooting less than 280 fps. The 2nd one when I received it it looked like it had been lubed with silver never seize. The pump tube, not the piston tube but the actual frame under the barrel was broken. I put a new barrel and receiver on that one, new piston, new trigger group, and new hammer and spring. They are both shooting 465 - 480 fps consistently now.
I ordered a bunch of spare parts in from Daisy USA. The parts are cheap, valve and seal kit is $2.50, barrel and receiver with pump tube and valve was $60, shipping was almost as much as the parts were though and the shipping company charged me $200 import and brokerage fees on $190 USD worth of parts.

Always been that way. Cadets are only allowed to shoot cadets issues rifle.
- The advantage of having their own rifle is they can practice at home... The standing portion is where the match are won (or lost).

I've been in the same boat. Son in Cadets etc, can't find it in Canada. Pyramyd Air in the USA had them. The first thing on their site was "ship to Canada". Ordered it and had it in under two weeks, clearing customs etc. No duty. Good luck!

They don't offer them anymore. Daisy is out of stock as well.
