My dog is spending the night at the dog pound. she took of this morning and I spent an hour looking for her. I had a job I had to be to so I left the grage door open a little bit so she could get in when she came home. I got home and she was not home. Called the local police department (kinda a small town) and asked if they had seen her, and the gal on the phone said yeah (bob) picked it up... Whats your number I will have him call you. He called me and said it he took it to the pound and that i would have to call them in the morning because they were closed already. DANGIT! Gona be like 150 to get her out. I will use the coyote bounty money her and I have made to get her out.

Tell the gal at the pound that the "it" is actually a she and you wish for a
big discount for being prejudice.
I think you shooting all that fur has caused the _b dog to have concern.
I slightly mentioned it earlier, but ye missed my point.
Take her to work with you.

A couple of dogs ago our Max (english setter) was an escape artist. I had repaired the front door latch and it now worked fine as long as you put the gum on the right side of your mouth when you pulled it shut. This nuance was beyond the grasp of my children. When the latch did not click when they shut the front door then Max knew it was game on. I was across the street visiting when my wife and youngest left to go downtown. Max watched them from the front window and when they were around the corner he made his move. His favourite haunt when on the loose was the local fast food joints which serve up all kinds of goodies for the enterprising pooch. He was very old at this time and the golden arches were too far so he headed for the neighbours where he had their garbage dumped and open in seconds. He was an awesome bird dog so all must be forgiven no matter what but he sure was a pain in the ass. My big fear was the highway would get him as he always managed to escape regardless of our latest feeble attempts to keep him in the yard. I watched one day as he crossed a busy road and his trick was he made eye contact with the driver and then made his move. Smart dog and I was fortunate to have forgiving neighbours. He lived the full complement (13 years) and kept us on our toes the whole time.

Australian Shepherd?:D Friend of mine has one. Name is Penny but the wife and I have taken to call her "Muffins". That's cause she hopped on the kitchen table and demolished a pan full of freshly baked muffins, the guy's wife had just baked in anticipation of our visit. :) Did the same thing with a dish of butter. Got the guys wife run over by her horses. Wish I could say something nice to say about that dog. :D Better keep a good eye on her, or she'll be gone again.

My dad had a rambunctious beagle once upon a time... when it ran away and got scooped by the pound, rather than pay the $125 fine and release fees... he left the dog in the pound for the two week "owner search" period and then adopted the dog back for $25... In his mind, they had fed the dog $25 worth of food for the two weeks and so he broke even! :D

how very UNCIVILIZED- in calgary, if your dog is properly registered, bylaw will call or BRING THE DOG HOME- if they can't get ahold of you then the pound fees kick in- or if it's on a weekend when no one is working- the dog has to be fed , watered, and sheltered- most times another k-9 owner will find it, call the city, and they will call the owner, and make arrangements- some "bright " individual figured this out years ago when it became too much time to fill out the paperwork and was putting the charging/fines over budget- see- a PHONE CALL costs basically NOTHING- and transport home is CHEAPER than a nite in jail

Sorry, not the pounds job to look after your dog. Should be a 1500. fine for letting your dog run at large. Funny how big a problem they have with vicious dogs at larg, attacking other dogs and people. :D

there's a MAJOR difference between letting your dog run at large( the owners frankly don't give a s*it) and" just getting out"- and most of the bites are NOT "big "dogs but those useless little things trying to make out they're in charge- just ask any mailman-i've got a gsd, and he never leaves the yard- that's all about TRAINING, and taking care of your dog
btw, right now there some FIFTEEN dogs at the pound- of over a half million dog owners- it's just the MEDIA villifies dog owners just like GUN owners
