Just a heads up to anyone who may be interested in picking up a couple Daisy Red Ryder's.
Cabela's currently has a "Heritage Pack" which has one youth size and one adult size red Ryder for 100 bucks.

Not a bad deal, especially given all the concern surrounding them.

Just a heads up to anyone interested. I'm not sure if this is the case for all of them but in the two pack I purchased both rifles came with the metal levers, not the plastic ones. Which was a nice surprise, I didn't know they still made the metal ones.

I recently purchased a Daisy BB gun, the lever action we all had as a kid.
It lasted an afternoon.
It’s all plastic piece of sh*t
.

I bought a Red Ryder lever from Walmart with an automatic safety that clicked on every cocking. Over priced junk as the lever was plastic and broke. It has been scrapped, $40 plus wasted.

My First Daisey, single shot I received from my dad at age +14, a single shot. I would use lead BBs as they hit harder than the steel Daisey. I would have a few in my mouth an the cocking action and feeding, I could fire one every 5 seconds. Oh, to have that single from 1940. instead of the plastic junk.

I have an old yet serviceable still, a .177 break action rifle given to me by a friend. I have a small battery operated Copperhead Red Dot Sight with two brightness levels for the dot. It is piece piece of steel I fastened fastened rear top of the barrel, works very well. With only one eye though it is a PITA to get the pellet right end up in the breach. I have found though, that when loaded, the sight turned on, I can close my left eye, open the right and shoot. :d

(The eye problem is wall eyes, the right needing 2 or 3 ops to eradicate the double vision.)

Daisey Red Rider, Two pack, regular and adut size Steel levers

I went on-line to Cabella's and got no where. They list the box at $149 plus tax and shipping.

At $99 plus tax and free shipping, or local pick up, I would very much like a pair.

Living here in Ottawa, no longer driving, relying on the Vixen for transportation is tough. I bought one of the crappy ones from Walmart 3 years ago, with the plastic lever which broke, and a large size coppered steel BBs.
BTH, normal size lead BBs were too large but the were pulled from an old high brass .12 guage shell.

Anyone any ideas . . .

I will dispute that, read my last post and the others. I wasted over $40.

Hey, to each their own I guess. I've enjoyed mine. No weird automatic safety like was mentioned earlier, metal lever, very accurate.
I have put 6000+ BB's through the one and it's still great.
