Here is a question for anyone that has some experience with Sig's and
the workiings of their trigger systems, specifically the DAK.

I have a P220 in 9mm which is the standard DA/SA however, I
REALLY like the DAK system. I know the P220 can be bought with
DAK trigger from the factory but only in .45 now, as all P220's are.

So my question is;
I want to keep my 220 becaue its 9mm but, I also want to install
the DAK trigger. Is that possible ?

Thx. much

the P220,226,229 all use the same parts for the dak hammer, strut, and sear

DAK requires a newer frame

http://www.topgunsupply.com/faq.html

In order to convert your P Series Sig Sauer pistol to DAK (Double Action Kellerman), your frame must be compatible in order to accept the DAK trigger bar. If you remove your right side grip panel, you can determine which frame you have. Early model frames are not DAK compatible and most later models are.

This is an example of a P229 frame that is NOT DAK compatible.

This 2nd photo shows a P229 DAK frame. Notice the additional material machined from the cutout.

I very much doubt that your frame would be compatible. It wasn't till the late 80's that Sig switched to making all their frames DAK ready. Up until then some material had to be removed from the frame to allow the DAK parts to fit. You can contact Sig with your serial number and they should be able to tell you if your frame falls into the DAK compatible range. I too am a DAK fan so I hope it works out for you. If not it's a good excuse to buy a DAK pistol or a late model DA/SA and do the conversion yourself.
If you want a quicker answer remove the right grip then google Top Gun Supply and go to their FAQ section. They have images of compatible and non compatible frames so you should easily be able to spot the differences and see which one you have.

I'm a machinist by trade so this project is still a go.
As long as, I am able to aquire the parts needed.
Can someone suggest a retailer that would carry these parts ?
