Has anyone had any experience with Dakota Arms since they have been purchased by Remington's parent company? I know they had an excellent reputation before, but I am wondering if there have been any problems or concerns with quality, fit and finish (or otherwise) since.

Also, how would you rate these new - specifically Model 97 - Dakota rifles in relation to Cooper?

Last ShotShow went and had a good look at the Dakota booth and talked to the shop manager. He told me the company is being left alone by remington and it will be run the same as before , seperate entity.
The quality and fit and finish was as nice if not better than the average Cooper, but you must take into consideration that most samples are custom made rifles! The Dakota safari grade rifles felt like no other gun except a custom fitted gun.
Prices are up there at the time compared to a custom Cooper. I think you get more for your money at Cooper, but if I had the extra $$$ I would order a Dakota!!!
Wish they had the singleshot rifle on hand, was the second year in a row that they didn't have a sample on display, really wanted to order a custom single from them , but finish time on a order was unknown?
