My #1 son just called me from the sat phone and told me he has in hand a 38-39" Dall Sheep . He figures he's 2 days pack to the lake for pick-up, so I'll see him sometime Sat. Will post pics there after, with his permission. The semi custom, super light weight, 700 Ti 300 WSM has been blooded!!!! That's my boy!!! Keeping up the tradition.

Boy called again tonight and he did a forced march in the rain all day and made it to the pick-up point on the lake only to be told tomorrow aft!!!
Gonna be a cold wet night!! Been there, done that, no fun. Probably ain't gonna be any loins or backstraps left when he gets home, damn.

Go get him for kripes sake..........

My bird ain't got floats, kamlooky, I'm afraid she'd be a one way trip and then I'd have a cold, wet night as well. There ain't no roads in this country my friend, and there ain't no place to land wheels within 20 miles of 'im.
I actually did that several years ago, flew out and picked him up after his friend and him walked out to a strip, when his float charter couldn't get in because of wind and waves. It was a middle of the night, pitch ass black landing and take off, illeagal as hell, but hey that's what being a bush pilot is all about, right?

Not illigal, if they had flashlights to mark the runway threshold that you could see from a mile away.

My uncle and I used reflective driveway markers to land a 182 on a ranchers gravel driveway up hill at night once..

Douglas, how does a guy with as much wherewithal not have floats?

Plane has always been primarily for business, floatplane is a toy. Only ever briefly owned a floatable aircraft,(U206) the other 3 have not been floatable as is my current, the PA 32-300, low winged shocked gear, not designed for floats. HOWEVER...having said that, my next aquisition after I retire will be a big boat and I'm thinking a 185 on floats with a full Robertson package or maybe a Helio...........

Duggee, buy a goll darn air balloon with an up chuck winch.....
My interest in this thread is my dear old departed dad hunted the
Atlin area for the monster Doll and surpassed many not to his acceptance.
He never did get his trophy Doll, so my interest in your son's Doll has
a flavor to it.
Hope all turns out as expected.
