damaged scope Q

I traded for a savage with a bushnell 3500 on it with leopold prw rings. I am going to sell the rifle today and pull the scope off only to realize the rings where super tight on the tube and have left an indent in the tube (kinda crushed where the ring tightens to the base half of the ring)

The question is is this scope hooped? or can I continue using it on my remmy build?

Its likely toast. I doubt that kind of damage hasn't done something to the erector system. At best, its unreliable now.

It will most likely be fine. That is barely dented.

Won't be hard to check out....just mount it up and head to the range!

box test it..........place it in a box, ship it to me, I'll mount it on a rifle, sight it in, adjust it 6 inches high...shoot...adjust 6 inches right.....shoot, adjust it 6 inches down......shoot, adjust it 6 inches left......shoot....if it is back where I started then I'll keep it, if it shoots somewhere way different I will send it back in the same box.....Pm me for shipping address...........

chances are that your rings are going to be in the same location regardless of remington or savage, so they will once again be hidden, seriously I have seen worse crimps then that and the scope was fine, I have seen scopes that are mint that are totally screwed.......box test it, put your mind at ease.....

I retract my last. Those marks are barely noticeable. I agree with the others, it should be ok.

yodave, have the best solution, box it up and send it off if you are worried, if not use it and all will be fine

looks like weaver ring damage. not too harmful usually just ugly.
