Hey Guys,
I recently did a trade here and got a pair of Zeiss Conquest bino's which were supposed to be in mint shape. I received them yesterday, opened the package and there was a noticeable scratch on the right side eye piece. I brought this matter up immediately to the CGN member and he acknowledged that he knew it was there but did not disclose this in the trade.
I'm not here to slag the fellow or the EE but am wondering what would be fair compensation for the damage or should I just send them back or what? The fellow did say he would work this out.

Cheers!!

That choice is up to you. If you are interested in some form of compensation, then go that route. I would be returning them..and leaving appropriate feedback indicating he failed to disclose damage.

I called Gentec and the repair would be $150 -200 plus shipping and would have to wait to have them shipped to the USA. My scouting season starts in Aug where I glass pretty hard...Hmmmm The damage isnt so bad as to effect the binos but I certainly expecting them to be mint.

You stated they were being sold as "mint"...so yes, you should expect them to be mint. I myself would no go through all that hassle. Send them back to the member you purchased them from and spend your money elsewhere.

If you can use them as is for the remainder of the season and then ship them off after the season and the seller is willing to make it worth your while, you may end up with a mint set of Conquests for a bargain. At least you know now how much of a discount you need.

Yeah that's what I was thinking. Seller contacted me this am and is giving some cash for the mishap. Im happy and will send them off after hunting season.

Cheers!!

Well its not thats easy as there was a trade with a firearm involved. With the cost of Canada Post these days its best to work something else out IMHO but to each their own I guess.

Cheers!!

I had forgotten that it was a trade....As long as you are happy with the way it worked out, I suppose all it well.
Glad to hear the other party made amends for the lack of info at least.
All the best in the upcoming season!!
