Damged Brass

Are dents of this size something to be concerened about? Can this brass be be safely reloaded?

I've had lots of those, havnt had an issue yet. are you using to much lube?

They are fine, they will iron out on firing. Next time less lube and maybe take your dies apart and clean them out, you may have an accumulation of lube in there.

You may end up with a tiny crack along the edges of the dent in which case it will split up to the neck from that point. The only negative impact of this is a slightly dirtier chamber and possibly a flyer in terms of accuracy.

Often times it will be 2+ full power firings before a dent of that size will iron out totally for me. I have loaded maybe 50ish cases with dents like that in .308, .303 British, and 6.5x55mm and only one has split from the dent to the neck like I said above.

Thanks-The neck was dented before resizing-It was shot from a M14-lots of the cartridges seem to have dents -this one was the most severe.

About 50,000 psi will take care of those dents. Fire away

Is your M14 tossing them so they collide with the Op-rod handle? Or are they smacking your scope?

That's a pretty unique little mark. You will see little brass dings where it is smacking the rifle.
