ok ok, it's not life threatening like i made it sound. i have just been searching for a Glock 19 for about 4 months locally in the Lower Mainland, BC. i don't want to buy it off the internet, and the places here offer better prices than questar. does anyone have any idea which local stores have the G19? i called italian they have no idea when they're gettin em, it jus keeps gettin pushed back, and wanstalls is expecting them anytime, since the beginning of May. even a used one in superb condition would be nice, help people!!!!

thanks

i dont get his phobia of buying over the net, i have not bought a single one of my firearms in person, all have been online deals and all have went perfectly

they also saved me money

Purchases of any kind of firearms involve the transfer of you personal info, doesn't matter if it's online or not.
I've bought both ways, never had an issue.
If you look at the trader ratings of some of the members here, you can see that they too have bough a lot of stuff online.
Sure, you can have issues, but you can have issues with a face to face purchase too.

As mentioned above, you are really limiting yourself.

CGNs sponsors, and the membership, are excellent to deal with.

questar + mark = gold

and secondly, what good are better prices if they dont have it in stock. dont forget with questar there is 1 tax, but there is shipping.... :D

There's nothing phobic about giving your local dealers first crack at a sale. Shopping locally keeps a local dealer in business.

BUT, there comes a time when you have to say "ok, i waited long enough". You waited months for the local guys and still no definite delivery date, then by all means start internet shopping. You can only wait so long, then it's time to pull the trigger, no pun intended. There are several sponsors on this site who will be able to help you out.

I have to agree with the other posters on this issue. Buy online. I too prefer buying in person but, I rarely do so any more. There is just so much more selection, customization, instant availability, and especially better price points with internet sales. Also, you can do better research online than at almost any gun store.

The only downside is not being able to shoot the gun before buying. Not an issue for me as I've never lived close to a shop that would let me shoot merchandise anyway, and the local shooting range guys are always willing to let someone try their guns out.

To be honest, I think I would trust most of the sellers on the CGN more than most retailers. Not a complaint against gun retailers but a compliment to the CGN community. Great group of people.

Good luck.

CGNs sponsors, and the membership, are excellent to deal with.

Being fairly new, I've only dealt with a couple of the site sponsors, and 1 private sale with a CGN member. But I wouldn't hesitate to shop with any of them again.

I understand the buying locally thing. I try to whenever possible. It allows you to handle the gun (to play with it and see what it feels like). If the price is close (my dealer usually tries to match, and gives me deals on ammo and such) I'll pay slightly more.

However if he can't get it, or if the price gap is too much, then as said above, look at the site sponsors. I'm sure with the size of the CGN community someone would have said something if there were issues with one of these business's.

Get over the fear of the inet...... i dont even bother going to local stored at all anymore, they are just overpriced, money hungry, take the shirt off your back, kind of deals. so unless it is for ammo, i buy from CGN.....even ammo if the price is right.

If you get a chance buy local, but otherwise the internet is fine. Seems like most of the sponsors at the top here have been doing it long enough they can help you out. I bought from ARMCO and it was rediculously easy for me. All i had to do was give him some nimbers and wait to pick it up.
Just dont use a computer at a public library when making firearms purchases.

Here are some advantages of buying online or mail order:

1) In most cases you get a better price.
2) No PST (unless purchased within province).
3) Even with shipping your saving some cash.
4) Availability of products and not having to wait for the local to order it.

Cons:
1) Support for your purchase.

I'd buy local for bits and pieces for my projects but for the most part I haven't had one issue with ordering online.

The local boys gets first crack for me but if they don't have what I'm looking for or they're out to lunch in their pricing then a CGN sponsor gets the sale.

x2 unless you're lucky enough to live near one of the CGn sponsors

The main problem with buying over the internet/though mail order is the fact that Canada Post has a tendency of occasionally losing packages. Sure, you would get your money back if the package was insured, but that’s not the end of your problems. Since the gun is already registered in your name, you now have a legal problem on your hands. It’s up to you to make sure that the missing gun is no longer linked to you in the registry. This may require filing a police report and having your residence subjected to a search/inspection. In other words, it’s a major pain in the ass. And imagine a situation where a gun registered to you is stolen by a Canada Post employee and sold to a gang-banger who uses it to murder somebody before you had a chance to get it de-registered? You can expect a full "dynamic entry" SWAT team treatment if that happens.

I don’t want to scare anyone off firearms-related Internet purchases, but I think it’s important to understand all the potential risks. One way to avoid an unpleasant experience with lost firearms is to ask your dealer what their policy on dealing with firearms lost in transit is. I bought a pistol from Wolverine Supplies last year and, you guessed it, it was lost by the idiots at Canada Post. Fortunately for me, Wolverine agreed to transfer the gun back into their inventory once CP determined that the gun was indeed lost and there was no prospect of locating it. This means that the legal hassle of getting the gun removed from the system fell on Wolverine’s, rather than my, shoulders. From now on, I will not buy a gun through mail order without first obtaining assurances that the dealer would handle the "loss in transit" situation in the same manner that Wolverine Supplies does.

Not all local stores... I've been to a few guns stores that I kind of feel sorry for not supporting because they treat me so well.

I the end I really do save hundreds just by buying out of province.

i have no phobia of buying over the internet at all, i purchase lots of stuff off ebay and random sites. the local prices are cheaper than Questar. Italian's price is 650, and Wanstalls is 700, and i don't think takin 1 tax away off 800 makes it cheaper after tax on those prices. i never mind waiting, i'm just hella anxious to own a firearm that has cheap ammunition. i have not tried Dlask Arms, but i will give them a ring, thanks for suggesting that.

if anyone else has any ideas let me know!

thanks
