Damn Burris Zee rings

When I first got into guns, an older fellow mounted a couple of scopes for me, and he swore by placing a cigarette paper between the ring and scope.

I've mounted scopes on 2 Ruger rifles where the rings were so roughly finished inside that I had to cover them with electrical tape.

Ruger rings are so bad that at P&D they have a new reamer to use on them. FS

I don't doubt it; I was shocked when I saw how rough they were! It almost looked like Bubba had been at them with a file.

Fassteel is right. We like the look and strength of Ruger rings and the fact that they are included with the rifle however...they are investment cast and are not round inside. We have to ream first and then lap the rings to assure proper contact with the scope body. We used to hand file these rings but later invested in ring reamers to speed up the process. We charge an extra $20 for doing a mount with Ruger rings but when we explain the process and you watch how much effort it takes you will understand it is money well spent. Phil.
