Damn ! I should have taken my time

I'm not about to judge anyone's actions, but I do have this to say. Most hunters don't want to admit to their misses cause all the "perfect" hunters chime in with the "you should reconsider your sport" and "I don't miss" mantra's. I had a terrible day last fall where I missed two, yes two, deer in ONE day. I felt like crap. I posted on here, got ribbed by the aforementioned croud (I did deserve some of it) and moved on. Since then I started keeping an eye on what people posted. Seems when some of these guys dig back into their past, they missed animals too. I posted partly to vent, and partly to fess up to my shortcomings. I didn't think I would ever miss either, cause I wouldn't let buck fever get the better of me, well I did. I had no problem saying how good a shot I was before, now I had to say how bad I was. s**t happens, learn and move on, and don't take anything anyone says too seriously.

Everyone misses, that is hunting. If I killed every deer I ever shot at, there would be a lot more trees without holes in them.... thats the nature of deep woods hunting, or hunting in general. Its what happens when you don't miss, but make a bad shot, and then have to grind it out to the end that makes the difference. We all have to live with our own consciences. I sleep well at night!

Adrian, I appreciate you sharing your hunting stories & experience with us! Please don't stop because of few rude people.

George

X2 - It's easy to see why people don't post ANY hunting stories here anymore. There are too many righteous hunters here that jump all over something they don't agree with.

YOU were there. YOU saw the sign with your own eyes and made a decision on how to proceed. Anyone can be an armchair quarterback but YOU were out in the field.

Please keep the stories coming. Some of us enjoy them.

I put everything worth shooting and killing in the same category, wether I intend to eat it or not. If I opt to pull the trigger, I intend to follow it through to the end wether convenient or not. I have followed a wounded deer for hours through inhospitable brush and cedar swamp to finish the job, and I would do the same for a coyote. Seems to be a few guys just hunting for the hell of it these days. I have very little feeling for coyotes, and shoot every one that I see. But like any creature, they deserve a clean death. If you can't figure that out, your not a hunter your just a shooter without a conscience.

Couldnt agree more with ya, only problem with your post I have I the "I would" part, you really don't know till you in those shoes, now ain't that the truth?

Wtf dude. How is this something to be proud about? Or brag about? Why is something getting fcked uoby a rifle and dying gradually so pleasing to hunters? I don't get it. I'm no hippy but come on...

O ya he's just ####ing tick-it-i-boo over wounding and not recovering this coyote. Where the #### did you get that from? Where did you get the impression that its pleasing to us to wound animals and let them die?

you don't hunt, so you have no idea what your talking about.

P.S - you sound like a hippy to me from most of your posts in the hunting section....

TWK
Well I'd say at this stage that this thread has been ^^^^^ When it all goes for a crap because it becomes just a personal attack.
The best part that came out of it was a few people have started to campaign for self appointed positions.
We have seen proof reader and editors as to "what should have been said"
Conscience advisers
Ethics administration
Arm chair quarterbacks of all types.

Keep posting Adrien and smacking those bush mutts !
Like they say "those that can do and those that can't criticize or teach"

I've yet to meet a hunter who shoots to wound and likes to see animal die in wretched pain

Nice 'tar, you in a service or just trolling???

I appreciate the temper tantrum. I didn't say to you, nor to anyone but op. I'veheard too many stories of oops it got away and we never found it and its jusy not my cup of tea. No, I'm not a hunter, because I jabe no interest, nor do I jabe the confidence in my shooting ability to drop my prey dead in one shot. Until then, I'll practise with paper. Relax. I'm not out to get you.

I've heard stories of people, and as well seen videos and pictures of people just loving the favt thatwhatever they shot isn't dead yet. Am I saying all hunrer are like that? Absolutely not. Nor am I pointing fingers at every person able to read my posts.

Not trolling. Not trying to be too much of a ####.
No I'm not in the forces. Still waiting for the call. I'd gladly give my right nut to get in anyday. Until then I give those serving every bit of respect they deserve.

reading your posts is challenging indeed, maybe try a spellcheck or proof read before pressing that send botton, and ill say you really not trying very hard with that #### part either

Want to show respect? A yellow ribbon would be more appropriate, using one of the Forces emblems makes you out a walt, to use brits term

No? Then why did you say the part in bold below? I'm a hunter, So you ARE talking about me. I've never met a hunter that loves the fact that the animal they shot isn't dead yet. That just sounds so ####ed up. All the ones I know, and hunt with, strive for a good clean kill, but it doesn't always happen either, part of the game.

hahaha - you know, this really illustrates the level of douche-baggery in the firearms community. For some reason, it's so much higher here than with other hobbies and communities

Yes... Indeed it does... And due to their abundance the mnr now considers them of "no value" ... As far as game law is concerned... They themselves want them gone or at least decreased... A quick call to your local co will let you know how they feel... That is what I did...I then followed it up with an email so I had proof...
I wish I would of kept my proof email from the MNR where in writting I was told even if hide is worth $1 it has a value. I questioned value because there is no closed season on yotes in our part of Ontario and being an old trapper (at one time) I know spring summer hides have no value. Plus I don`t trust MNR they lied to me many times.

Exactly why I got the email as proof.... I don't trust them either.... it's amazing how their attitude chaged towards coyote when they started threatening their turkey progem.... ;)

I agree. But spell check doesn't work on my crappy phone. Don't be hatin'.
