Dan Wesson 1911 is one tight pistol....

There is a lot more that meet the eye, anytimes, anywere, the outside apparence is really at the end of the spectra when i buy an item, a whorty reputation and a good pedigree are beautifull to my eye... JP

It's easy to see how tight that is.How's the bushing to barrel fit?.I would imagine it would be similar to your Pll as well??

I did break down my 3 1911 today Colt Gold Cup/ Les Baer/ D Wesson to clean and lubricate and between the LB and the DW, it is just to close to call for tighnest, the Colt is tight but not as much as the 2 others... JP.

I have the valor and it too is the tightest 1911 I've seen and handled. The valor also has zero mim parts.

All this DW talk has me missing the Valor that I sold a couple of years back. I guess 3 years, actually... I miss that gun. I am seriously tempted to hunt one down.

betcha a Wilson combat or nighthawk puts them all to shame...

mirror mirror on the wall who makes the tightest fitting 1911 in the land?

I have a Les Baer Prowler III with the 1.5" groups @ 50 yards guarantee and it's the tightest 1911 of all those I've owned; Ed Brown stainless Executive Target (sold it to a buddy and still shoot it once in a while), Springfield custom shop Professionnal Operator, two DW black duty valor full size and VBOB, a couple of Valtro's 1998A1, a bunch of STI's Executive, Sentry, Trojan and some pre 70's, 70's & 80's series Colt Gold Cup's. Also handled a few Wilson's & two Nighthawks and while they were pretty tight, the LB was still "the one" being the tightest of all followed by the Sprigner. Then the Brown & the DW's, witch are about equal. The Wilson's & Nighthawks fit somewhere in between the Springfield & the Ed Brown).

Considering the cheapest Wilson or Nighthawk you can find is still over 3 grand, they damn well better! But they don't. They are definitely nicer, but would not go so far to say put any of the higher end production guns "to shame". ;) Especially when you consider the difference in price.

I have to agree and down the road those 2 will find the way to my herd, but it is always comforting to find some middle shelve pistol being real well made and being surprised by it... JP.

Honestly when I first saw that I thought it was my old SAM commander.

Just kidding!! Tough to beat for a $500 1911 thou. One of our RO's let me handle his at the range not to long ago (9mm commander but not E version), I shot a mag with it and was impressed with the build quality and accuracy. The trigger had to be tweaked a bit but for the price, can't go wrong.

Well, thanks to this thread I broke down and ordered a DW Valor SS.

Unfortunately I won't see it until January. :( So much for immediate gratification! But either way, I am very excited about it. Thanks caramel for starting this thread!

Great piece! Not a big fan of the Heritage serie polished slide / bead blasted frame combo but to each their own :) I've looked hard at the Valor before I got my EB.

IMO tightness is a sign of quality worksmanship; When it comes to accuracy, it's more about the barrel lockup...
