Dan Wesson Guardian

Nice choice! The Guardian looks like it will be a great pistol! There aren't many 9mm 1911's and this one looks like a must have!

You won't find any stock anywhere just yet. They haven't started making them as far as I know. They should be starting to roll out of the DW shop soon (within the next month or so) from what I have heard and read.

If you want one, call Walt at ArmsEast and pre-order one. They will be made in very limited numbers and I doubt more than a few will make their way up to Canada this year at all... :(

Also, be prepared to pay well over $1500 Canadian by the time it gets here. DW has raised their prices across the board for 2010.

Dan Wessons are extremely hard to get up here. The demand in the US is pretty high and their production is limited. Just as an example, in 2010 DW will make 3500 guns. That is the total number for all models!

As far as I know, any dealer can order DW guns, but those are the only ones where I have seen stock in the past year...

Well, I stopped by the Edge this afternoon; had to return some stuff that Kevin graciously lent me. So while I was there I rattled off a few rounds.....and...... ordered a Guardian. I should get pricing and ETA information on Monday.

We bring in Dan Wesson on a semi-regular basis. However, there often seems to be a discrepancy in Canada between their actual value and what the average consumer expects to pay for them. I suspect the problem lies with the fact that they are not common in Canada and a lot of people don't realize how nice they are.

I have frequently sold Dan Wessons for below US MRSP. So even with the significant import costs and exchange rate they are selling cheaper in Canada. Such low mark-ups are not sustainable as there is no real profit.

We will continue to import Dan Wessons as they are a fine firearm and we are happy to carry them. However, supply will have to be limited until they become financially beneficial to import/sell.

Also, as mentioned earlier these are difficult guns to obtain for import. But we are constantly looking to get them.

K.O.

I know what you're saying. The DW's are extremely underrated. It's a much nicer gun than a Kimber for less money, hell, a NightHawk is only a little nicer in some ways, and it's at least twice the money. I've been shooting 1911's off and on for twenty five years, cheap ones, expensive ones, custom made ones, and I can't believe what a great value the DW's are. I found out last night they were making an alloy bobtail commander in 9; exactly what I've been looking for, so I got my ass in line today.
