Does anyone know why it is so difficult to get Dan Wesson guns up here in Canada? I'm thinking specifically of their 1911's. You would think that, being a division of CZ, they would have pretty good distribution up here; but that doesn't seem to be the case...

There definitely seem to be good interest in the line if any dealers or distributors are thinking about bring the line up... (hint, hint ;))

The distributor for CZ in Canada did not want to bring them in, but since there is another distributor appointed earlier this year, right here in Edmonton, I am sure they will be stocking the Dan Wessons.

Kodiak Outpost gets what they can find out of the US, but there are no Canadian dealers that I'm aware of that regularly stock DW 1911's through the usual distribution channels.

DW is a division of CZ now so they should have access to the CZ distribution network, I would think. Maybe DW doesn't have the production capacity to keep up with demand? That's the only thing I can think of...

The problem getting DW 1911's isn't limited to Canada, they're pretty tough to get in the US too! They only produce a (relatively) small number of guns a week, most of which are already sold by dealers. The big draw with them is that they're high quality, which takes time to produce, so it's unlikely they'll speed up the line any time soon, at this point from my understanding they're selling every gun produced.

I missed this post earlier. Sounds very interesting! I'll be keeping an eye out for dealer stock for sure! I don't suppose you have an inside line on when we might see some DW's hit the dealers' shelves...

I bought the one CBOB I could find in Canada and it arrived this week (from Wolverine). Took it to the range yesterday and it's freakin sweet !!! it's gorgeous too :D:rockOn:

Our dealers here can get them, but there isn't that many around. You see guys posting on the 1911 forum all the time asking where to find a CBOB in the states..

I would definitely recommend that you speak to Walter at ArmsEast (a CGN sponsor).

Within the last few months, two friends of mine and I bought, brand new, two DW bobtail .45s and one DW pointman7 .45 from him. These guns came in from the US without delay or problem. ArmsEast, as I understand it, has a separate agreement with CZ-USA regarding supply that allows for this.

Walter really took super care of us in every way - service, price, speed etc. Call him!

Thanks for the tip THOR74! I'll be getting a hold of Walther ASAP!

the cs distributor in canada advised me that any local dealer can bring in a dan wesson, at the time the commander and pointman 7 were available, i ordered the pointman seven last week and it should be in this week.

Sorry to sound like a dolt, but what's a CBOB? I can't find it on the Dan Wesson website. I'm guessing it is the Commander Classic Bobtail?

You got it, Commander BOBtail. There's a very strong 'Ed Brown' influence in the Dan Wesson line - and that's a good thing!

I got a Dan Wesson PM7 1911 .45 from Pro-line Shooters in Calgary. Not too sure if they have any more but I would highly reccomend the purchase of one. Best 1911 I've ever shot.
