So I have a friend who has a Dan Wesson 44 mag revolver, originally prohib.
He removed barrel and added longer barrel to reclassify it to restricted.
Now this makes the gun not original and there for lowers value right?
He wants to sell.
Im debating on buying.
What do you all think?

Wrong, DW's barrels and sleeves are available and interchangeable in seconds with the proper tool, that's what makes them quite unique. Being now a restricted nearly doubles the value.

Still enjoy mine. I have had it almost 30 years now. Used it a lot back in my big bore silhouette days. Like to shoot at the 100 meter 12 inch steel plate at our range. Think last time at the range I hit it offhand 4 out of 6 times with the other two shoots only slightly off. It is very accurate.

ok cool, review online (mostly American) do not have great things to say about the Dan Wesson.
Only a few good reviews for the Monsoon made ones.

Another question would be: Anyone know who can get replacement barrels? I emailed Ellwood Epps and waiting to hear.
Any other suggestions?

I could be wrong but I don't think all DW revolvers had the barrel change option. If this is one of those then all the better (although I'm not sure spare barrels are that easy come by). If not, DW revolvers are still top quality guns although the lack of barrel change capability would make it less desirable.

You are right Ted. Although rare DW made some fixed barrel revolvers. Pitch thread are the same as the removable barrels one so it's pretty easy to convert them.

I seem to remember Arms East selling Dan Wesson revolvers... maybe they could help you also?
