I'm looking to get a revolver so after looking online and doing some research the next step was to go to some local retailers and see what they have. To my surprise there weren't many to look at. After looking at a few different makes and models (Ruger, S&W, Magnum Research) I saw a rental Dan Wesson and tried the fit. Like a glove, I think I found what I'm looking for!
So I go home and fire up Google chrome and start looking... and looking... Cant seem to find many Dan Wesson revolvers for sale.
Anyone have any thoughts on this? From what I've heard and read online (the internet hasn't lied to me yet  ) they seem like they are very well made.

Dan Wesson revolvers have a reputation for being built like tanks. Unfortunately the company has gone bankrupt once or twice and as far as I know Dan Wesson revolvers are not being made anymore. CZ are producing Dan Wesson pistols in limited numbers and their quality is also very good. Dan Wesson revolvers do come up for sale from time to time on the EE. Personally I'd be a little concerned about the availability of parts should it break. Good luck in your search for one.

I have an old one from 1976-77. 4 digit serial .357. Absolutely love it! You can't go wrong buying one if it's in very good condition. Hard to find though. I'd like to find a .44 in the same age bracket.

CZ USA has restarted production of DW revolvers, below is a press relese from their website...........good luck trying to find one

Dan Wesson Reintroduces the 715 Revolver, .357 Magnum

The 715 is now as it was before, designed and built to be the most accurate, rugged and versatile revolver available. Barrel assemblies and grips are easily swapped by the shooter with those designed for model 15-2 and later. The HV6 barrel is a 6” barrel with a new heavy vent shroud profile which is being introduced exclusively on the new Dan Wesson 715 revolver.

The relatively short and light double action trigger cycle with crisp target like single action trigger pull made the Dan Wesson revolvers a favorite among competitors and hunters alike. A tradition that still continues.

The Dan Wesson revolver design improved on the accuracy and service life of the traditional double action revolver design in a few ways. The tensioned barrel of the DW interchangeable bbl system enhances accuracy as does the forward located crane latch. The crane latch is located at the front of the cylinder. This forward lock coupled with a rear ball detent helps to ensure proper cylinder/barrel alignment during firing more than the rear locking designs of other revolvers. While the tensioned barrel definitely improves accuracy above other revolvers, the consistent cylinder/barrel alignment probably contributes more to the superior accuracy of the 715 than any other design feature. The unique clockwise rotating cylinder turns into the frame reducing stress on the crane. Keeping the alignment tight extends the service life of the revolver and as a bonus preserves accuracy longer than other designs as well. In addition the DW revolver is built on a robust frame design to handle the heaviest of factory loads.

Each Revolver is shipped in a custom Dan Wesson hard case. Patterned after the ever popular Pistol Pack, each case has compartments for three additional barrel assemblies and factory supplied barrel wrench kit.

• Dan Wesson interchangeable bbl system = versatility and accuracy
• Adjustable target rear sight
• 6” heavy barrel with ventilated rib
• Finger grooved Hogue rubber grip
• Transfer bar safety
• 416 stainless steel construction
• Front crane latch and rear ball detent
• Includes bbl wrench kit
• 46 oz

Accessories and barrel assemblies from 2.5” to 10” are easily swapped by the shooter and are available from CZ-USA and Dan Wesson.

They are good guns untill something breaks and then it can be a real problem finding parts. Save yourself a lot of possible grief in the future and just buy yourself a good S&W revolver. You will never regret it and down the road if you decide to sell it you will have far more people who will want to buy it then those that will want the Dan Wesson. Just my two cents worth.

I've owned and shot my Dan Wesson 744VH for close to thirty years. 1000's of full house 296 and H2400 loads, and nothing ever broke and probably never will. There is an active Dan Wesson community and common parts are available with a bit of searching. Love Smiths and I plan on buying an early M 29 with that superb trigger and bluing but they should never be compared to the toughness and durability of a Dan Wesson. Mine has 2 1/2 lb SA pull and 8 lb smooth DA pull that rivals some of the great Smiths and Colts I've owned.

I have two DW's at the moment. A very early 3 digit 44 mag in Brite Satin Blue and a 357 Max 40VHS. Had some issues when the 44 was new, Murray Charleston tried to fix it, didn't take. So I figured out how to fix it myself. Since then (and that was 79) it has worked very well. As to the cost of an 8 inch, which model in which caliber? The price varies a great deal depending on those items (and condition, of course). - dan
