Go for it. Top end 1911's whether custom or semi-custom are wonderful to own and shoot. Yes, they are expensive but once you fondle and strip that pistol down you'll begin to appreciate the workmanship and how well everything is put together vs. a mass produced 1911. It's a piece that you'll be proud to own and keep for many years.

I would totally agree. the big IF is whether or not you will appreciate it. if you like nicely fitted mechanical gear than you will really appreciate a well fitted 1911.

I keep looking at that valor just the same, I think if it was the kind that cgn member harry callahan was selling awhile back I may take the plunge. He was selling a valor with that tuff black finish, looked sweet.

I sold the DW's and got an Ed Brown. While the EB is sweeter than honey, a joy to handle and shoots like a dream, I sometimes miss both Black duty treated Valor and VBOB... For the price, over $1k less than the EB, there's simply no other 1911's that rivals the quality and craftmanship of the DW. You really need to handle one to understand. They are in a league of their own, closer to semi-custom than high end production pistols.

I have a Valor and yes they are a gun you'll want to keep. Very good quality in terms of fit, finish and feel. Stupid accurate and gorgeous to look at! Nobody dislikes a DW Valor.
