I finally got a chance (made time) to start loading for my .270WSM last night :) I had picked up a bag of Winchester cases and ran them through the new Redding FL sizer die after giving the cases a shot of spray lube (best invention going :D) I'm working towards a load which will hopfully finalize with a 140 Nosler Accubond whistling over the sky screens around the 3200fps marker and retaining good accuracy  So I've got a bunch of cases resized & primed and decided to start with Re19. I get the RCBS 10-10 scale set up and carefully trickle the first charge then put my old funnel to the case mouth to dispense my first WSM charge and...Whoa! WTF? Friggen case is too big for the funnel?? Aww crap  I remember reading about this and totally forgot  I slowly put everything away while mentally kicking my a$$. This morning I go to the handy-dandy local sporting goods store and pick up a new RCBS funnel that fits the WSM cases. Of course, a new powder trickler, another pound of powder and some 140gr Ballistic Tips (for load developement) join the funnel in the checkout counter ;) I can now continue on and create the end-all load for my M70 .270WSM. Anyone else run into the fat case/funnel snag also?

No, but I can relate to the trip to the store  My last trip to wholesale for "just a set of rings" cost well over $200.

Yes, I also ran into this problem with the 300WSM. Funnel was empty, pulled it off, some powder went into the reloading block. The WSM case is just that, a fat pig. All I did was cut a 22-250 case in half and used the top for a "funnell reducer".Works fine.:)

never had a single problem with 300 or 270wsm.
Did I get a larger funnel off the go? perhaps.
I still find that slowly pouring the powder on one side and letting it spiral into the funnel works best ( as apposed to just dumping it in there).

Got a 300wsm when they first came out and also trimmed the funnel neck shorter. Forgot about the hand prime tool, shellholder for that is different too. I'll tell you now before you run into this problem, chances are you will need to adjust your sizing die down 3/4 of a turn or so after contact with the shellholder or else you'll only be partial sizing.

With new, unfired cases, I screw the die down to contact the shell holder then back it off 1/2 turn. After running the cases through the die, I measure the case length then check them in the rifle. In this instance, no further die adjustment was needed as they chambered & the bolt closed smoothly with no resistance.

Another trick I forgot about ;) But I figured the old red Lee funnel could use a green buddy so I picked up a new RCBS that fits the fattys.

Ain't that the truth! Every time I set foot in the store either here or at Corlane's in Dawson Creek, my wallet comes out well ventilated and de-mothed! :D

Yep - I have a cut down neck Lee funnel to charge my 350WSM. I bought another for other less fat cases. That 22-250 funnel reducer is a great idea too.

The Lee case mouth deburer is too small to chamfer the outside of the WSM mouth. I guess I'll be getting a RCBS one someday if I think of it when I'm at the local reloading emporium.

I did with my RCBS funnel. I took an utility knife and trimmed a little bit off the neck of the funnel, and now it works fine.

x3, had to it when I loaded for 7saum. Now I just use that funnel for loading WSM ammo for guys, and use a MTM drop tube funnel for regular stuff

I had the same funnel issue when I started out w/ y .300 SAUM. A paper cone w/ the end snipped off fixed the problem fast. I havn't bothered to go find a proper funnel, since the paper version seems to work damn well.
