Dangerous Game Rifle

Guessing this is physically impossible without a lot of work. The Zastavas chambered in 375 H&H use a cut out action that is just long enough for SAAMI specs. Given the shorter nature of the 458 win mag I would have to assume they do not cut them out to the degree they would with the 375 H&H so one would also have the ream out the action to get the Lott in there.

That said I own a Zastava in 375 H&H and I would recommend against them for African use. There are too many issues with the cut action that can cause problems in the field VS using a proper magnum action(plus it's only 3+1). As a hunting rifle I like mine, but if I had to go back I'd get a CZ 550 and if I was going to Africa the CZ 550 would be my minimum for quality and functionality.

Freyr,

nothing that can't easily fix. they've working in the field forever. the cz550 is a great action but too bulky if only a 375 is used on my opinion.

all the best.

I think I found a Model 70 in .375 H&H brand new. Not 100% waiting on a phone call.

In the mean time any recommendations on a scope for a buffalo gun? I want to stay under $400 preferably. I wish I had enough money just to toss on a high end Swaro or Zeiss but I am spending so much already it adds up. I will wait until my next safari and then I will grab the Sawro or Zeiss or whatever.

If you wanted to move up a notch in "oomph" Prophet River has a Ruger M77 in their consignment list in 458 WM.

I went with the Ruger RSM in 375 H&H and 416 Rigby. Pretty hard to beat their value.

375 H&H for plains game and 416 Rigby for the cape buffalo.

Cheers
