You've obviously missed the "shooting vs stopping" debates that we have had. You might ram 5 rounds into him, but there is very little chance, short of a perfect shot, that a bullet with so little momentum and SD will actually "stop" charging Dangerous Game (save leopard...might work nicely if semis weren't verboten in most of leopard country). Also, when people like Ardent, c-fbmi, Boomer, myself and a host of other guys (I caught #### last time I left guys out) talk about "Dangerous Game" we're more leaning toward stuff that you need to take several flights and multiple days to get to. To say it simply, bears ain't elephants. Your semi, while it will probably send yogi for a dirt nap, will only serve to decorate the site of your demise with shiny brass casings should you get into the jesse with a tuskless cow or musth bull.

I know full well, that a cape buff is a nasty critter that can take up a lot of lead if shots are poorly placed. The critter in the photo though does look a tad on the light side...at least compared to this one.

For a 30-30 to work well on a buff, a fellow would have to use a 174 gr. FMJ bullet and be using a magazine rifle like a Rem 788 or better yet, a re-barreled Lee Enfield.The shot to take would be in the neck, close to the base of the skull.

Some poachers still use the .303 British in Africa & India using ball ammo.
That's less than a light loaded Savage muzzleloader. Very similar to what someone would put together for squib load plinking with a big bore.
That's not to say I want to get shot with one, but a DGR in .45 will be double the energy and 3 times the recoil. Very much a different world.

I've handled one only not shot, was disappointingly stiff and crude. No doubt it would get better with use, but I'd pick a Benelli if looking for multiple fast shots from a shotgun. Single trigger so no "tripling" sadly Camp. 
I like right between the ear and the eyeball.

As a side note, I just found the other day that this bad boy will hold 6 down and 1 in the tube! I had never tried any more than 5. Not that I would ever need it but that's pretty awesome. Does every CZ 550 magnum hold that many? Or does mine have a special magazine box maybe?

Nope that drop belly mag is standard on the Magnum, The box is a bit long for the .458 so you have a good candidate for rechambering to a .458 Lott or better yet a .458 Ultra (.460 G&A with a shorter neck).
Good to know, thanks Boomer. I already have a 458 Lott reamer to do the job, I just have to find somewhere to take it. I have contemplated doing it myself as I have been told it's not much of a job... But I'm skeptical.
