Dangerous Gun Story!!

Ganderite as it right: gold does fluctuate but DECENT old guns keep going up.

My wife never could understand that. We had a single bank account and a 50-50 marriage.... I thought. SHE thought that meant that I was 100% in charge of making the bucks and SHE was 100% in charge of spending the bucks.

Necessities first, of course. A new car for her = necessity. A beat-up $40 Mauser for me = wasteful extravagance. Airplane tickets so she could run off and visit with Mommy and Daddy = absolute necessities.

When she finally walked out because I was "heartless" (I poured her booze down the drain because I don't think a mother should stay drunk all day if she's raising little kids), she took all 4 bank accounts (I only knew about two), the dog, the cat, the car and the kids. She sent back the credit cards after she maxed them out then sued me for divorce on grounds of 'mental cruelty'.

I have no plastic, I pay cash for everything.... and I sure don't need another like her.

In the end, everything boils down to trust. YOU are making the money. As long as the mortgage is paid and there is food on the table, the necessities are taken care of and that's what matters most. If you are not doing that much, then you are screwing up. But if you ARE looking after your responsibilities, then why shouldn't you buy a toy? The only person you are hurting might be you.

If she still objects, you might remind her that there are other hobbies which are far more destructive. We had an RCMP Sergeant here whose hobby was 11-year-old girls. That got just about zero media attention, but it caused a lot of hurt. I knew a guy who was deliberately spreading HIV... and there was not a word said against the dear boy, but that caused a lot of hurt. You're not hurting anybody. The idea of twin 'hobby accounts' is a good one. If she balks at that, just tell her what all that meat that you've been providing is worth.... and offer to take it out of the house account because she's been eating it, too.

Who knows? When you're in a situation like this, logic means absolutely nothing. Everything is about what THEY WANT and most of them are too d*mned lazy to earn for themselves. Men might be from Mars, but half the women in North America today are from somewhere 'WAY out there.

Yeah well I have a simple understanding with my wife. New gun purchase = equivalent in diamonds. Works out well for us. I get all the guns I want:D

Yeah, well there are a lot of us who thought silly, old-fashioned things like that, Styrak.

That was back in the Dark Ages, before the New Liberated Woman took over.

FWIW, the finest humour is always based on a touch of tragedy.

I've got your back ol' boy.

Been there and definitely done that. Life sucks boys - compartmentalize your lives unless you're ready to deal with potential fallout down the road.

That is how I have always managed my finances. I never understood why people would combine all their money? She should have her account and you yours. Then one joint account to pay for all bills. Both people put equal (if you make it that way, depends on incomes) to the joint account and what you have left over is yours to spend.

Yup....

I have never understood dumping all your coin into a joint account. I don't work and make money just to have to explain what I choose to spend it on...as long as the bills are paid and there are steaks in the freezer the rest is mine to do with as I choose, no questions asked.

Christ...I can't even imagine why anyone would even entertain giving up a personal bank account.

OK? Ready for a scary frickin situation!?

Yesterday the wife wants me to pull up the bank statement... the online thingy.

Man I was s**tting my pants!! I've managed to buy 7 guns this summer, when I'm supposed to be in a No-Buy-Guns-Situation. I've damn near got the purchases swept under...

So I pulled up the banking website and I'm like, trying hard to swallow...

"We owe what!?"

"What's this!?"

"Where was that money spent!?"

"Why haven't you paid this (card)!?"

"Let me see that account!!"

Blah, blah, blah...

And by the grace of the Great Hunting God, she missed the transactions that woulda sunk my boat!!

But I might be doomed anyhow. Last week Gun #7 was purchased; a CZ-97B. Seemed like a good thing until I realized after-the-fact, that since it's restricted, it has to be delivered to the door. I don't see how I'll ever be able to hide that one... I have maybe a 1 in 10 chance of getting away with it...

You sound like a freaken reckless kid who needs his wife as a mommy to keep him in line!

Funny sort of, update to the situation.

Wife and I were sitting down watching some late night TV, last week, and she says, "So you bought another gun, eh?"
And I'm right away trying to figure out WHICH ONE she knows about!!
"How much did that cost?"
So now it's oh s**t... what do I say? I don't want to give anything away... or as little as possible...
Me... "Ummm... $600." Then, "Er, did Niki tell you?" That's my daughter that I took out shooting. She was firing the CZ-97B that I bought. BUT... she didn't say anything else, and I'm thinking, *Maybe it was the CZ-858?*. She let me sit there nervously.

Well the 7 firearms cost:
$1500
$325
$1200
$1200
$600
$700
$600

So I sorta told the truth, cuz there was a couple that I paid $600 for. And that was the end of it for then.

Then a couple days ago, she asked me again, and she told me I lied about the $600. So somehow she saw a VISA statement or something. She said, "I know you paid more then that..."
So I'm like of s**t, which gun is she talking about... so I said "$1100?"
And then it got into a whole bunch of, "I forget..."

Anyway, she's definitely onto me, so this thing is far from dead.

if only my wife was as comprehensive as yours, i only have 3 guns, not counting that ####ty cooey one shot bolt action .22lr i have...

the nag-o-nator is tweaked to kick in high speed mode by simply buying an add on for my guns on the web...count yourself lucky dude...

Holy crap! No wonder the world is going down the toilet. Half the gunnutz out there are a bunch of self-centered pricks. f:P:

Demonical, how do you ever figure you are going to be in the clear if you don't own up to what you've done? Obviously your conscience is telling you something or you wouldn't be on here trying to justify telling lies (or if you prefer 'mistruths') to your wife.

When your conscience starts talking to you more than your wife does, you are going to have a hard time trying to convince yourself that you are a happy man, no matter how many guns you have.

:kickInTheNuts:Time to man up!
