I can't justify the extra $500 for that barrel over a "normal" DD MilSpec+ V5 or V7.

Definitely getting one of these 2014 models though, I really like the new grip textures on top of what I have always liked with the DDs. I'll likely get a Mk18 or V7 this year.

I would like to get my hands on a 18" S2W barrel with the pinned on gas block. could live with the stripped barrel, but would prefer the other.

I built an M4A1 before Daniel Defense started building these commercially. Buy one/build one, top if off with an Elcan SpecterDr 1-4x 5.56mm FDE, and you'll never need another AR... This thing is amazing. Although quite heavy for a carbine. Just my $0.02.
