Daniel Defense Delta 5

Not trying to stir the pot I just actually want to sincerely know, what is the issues with barrel nuts other than the ### part? Are they backing off? Weaken the tennon?

I don't think there is really any functional issue with barrel nuts. If people have a problem with Savage it is not in the barrel attachment arena.

I think the main concern is the appearance and the availability of much better options these days.

It has a barrel nut, AND AR style barrel extensions... ...but DD will supply replacement barrels for what it's worth.
I don't however see many others jumping on the supply train to support this platform. So it had better be a shooter out of the box.

Got to play with one of these last week and I can't say I was overly impressed.
Stock felt like a slightly nicer magpul hunter. The action was so-so and the barrel didn't have much for specs. This appears to be targeted to the MSR guys down in the states who want to hunt, but don't want to run a wooden stock.

IMHO I would take a BadRock Southfork or PVA John Hancock any day of the week over the DD.

I played with them at SHOT and wasn't really that stoked either. Probably an accurate rifle, but I wasn't impressed with how the action felt, and the ergo's on the stock didn't really stand out to me either. I also felt the trigger wasn't great for the price point of the rifle. I will reserve final judgment until I can shoot one, though.

Yeah.

Time will tell. I still don't see whats so bad about this design.

But the msrp is a bit aggressively high. Hopefully these retail for a bit less.

It's not that it's a bad design, it's just that you're basically going to be going to DD for barrels, and only DD. If they make the best barrels in the world at a good price, that's great. If not, well...

That depends on what your application. This won't be a f class benchrest gun. And time will tell if it becomes popular in the aftermarket department as far as barrels go.
