bought a new DD rifle from wolverine supplies for $2325.00 plus tax and shipping, not sure how I feel about the upper and lower receiver being misaligned... anyone ever see this before?

I guess I am being to critical, it was just a bummer to see after spending that much cash.
 
It is normal with AR's, doesn't affect the functions once you start shooting and put some character marks on it you won't see it anymore.
 
That bump in the upper is purely there to cover up the magazine catch channel in the lower. It is forged into the raw forging - so any companies who use the same forger with that particular forging setup will have the same feature.
 
Its more a question of the play and alignment of the retaining pins then out of spec forgings being off between upper and lower. Shoot enough and the slop will have them lining up offset on the other side. :) Good news is it doesn't effect accuracy.
 
My "Franken" build AR has the best alignment of any AR I have ever seen.

My DD which was the first batch to come into Canada some 5 odd years ago has misaligned receivers. Heck all 5 of my ARs don't match up. Never really bothered me 'cause that just how they are.

Damn, I remember when DD used to be $1499. :p

Back when the exchange rate to $1 CAD to $1.10 US
 
This is the kind of thing that ultimately had me opt for the far cheaper yet fully functional Sport 2. I would take it back if I was you and just get something else for less.
