Daniel Defense M4V5

Im poppin my AR cherry with a ddm4 v5 too, seems like alot of first time AR guys are as well. Hope my rpal shows up soon so i can go get it.

My only complaint so far (and it's a small one) is that the Mil Spec trigger is a little gritty. I don't plan changing it out; but I will remove the trigger group and gently polish it. Here she is so far.

I have done lots of research in the past couple of weeks and finally reduced my list to 2 choices:

1) Daniel Defense DDM4 V5
or
2) CORE15 M4 TAC Rifle

Which one is better? (better construction, accuracy, reliability, resale price, etc...). Price is pretty much the same ($1500). What are the main differences? And which one would you pick?

Thanks a lot for your input!

I was in a similar boat as you. I narrowed down my picks to PWS, DD, Spikes and CORE15. Questar was the only shop carrying PWS at the time and they were forever sold out of the MK114 and MK112. Couldn't get DD up here at the time and almost went with the Spikes. CORE, I believe, is a new kid on the block and didn't want to chance having growing pains with the company (but haven't heard anything bad as of yet). That's when Wolverine announced they were bringing in DD at a great price. Jumped on the DD bandwagon in a heartbeat and don't regret it for a second!

Price, reliability, reputation, build... winner, winner, chicken dinner.

DD has quite the reputation in the military and civilian use and heard nothing but praises for their quality and durability. Then I saw the DD tourture test and was sold.

On Setp 24th and 25th you can come out to our store and the range close by for a demo day and meet Larry Vickers in person

;)

I totally agree with you that DD has more history than Core so has better proven reliability. DD is my first pick. I think I might be ready to take the plunge before all stores are sold out. Last I heard it was Wolverine and One Shot Tactical the two importing them but reselling thru other stores. I read in this thread that Lanz might have (even though it does not show on their website). AmmoSource had one listed a couple days ago but now shows as sold out :(

Who has them in stock right now?

I'm counting the minutes till I can get my V5. but I was told BC CFO is taking near 3 weeks for transfer approval right now. grrrr.

Got all these toys ready to go too lol.

I hate one thing... It takes so long to get up here.

It seems the BC CFO is very under staffed or just lazy, My buddy has been waiting almost 5 months for his RPAL.

Actually it was a complete overestimate.
From the day it shipped the rifle took 6 days to get to my door and then 6-7 days after that I had the registration in the mail.
So not bad at all.
If your buddy is waiting 5 months to get his pal I would think they found something wrong...

Got my M4 and I have to say I love it here are a few quick pics i snapped.

This is the loadout i plan to take to the range tomorrow Hatsan optima 12 guage pump, DD M4 V5, Ruger SR22, and last but not least my M&P 40. I call this my black collection.

Cheers everyone.

I shot my DD M4 V5 on Sunday and it functioned flawlessly I however forgot my spotting scope and it was busy as hell the pistol range was closed due to a military shotgun shoot i forgot about. so i could only shoot at a 50 meter and up targets with no spotting scope to locate my shots zeroing in my red dot didn't happen lol. but i did shoot at the 400 meter gong and i could see the dirt kick up about rough guess 10 feet below my aim and pretty damn close to centered i just played around adjusting my shot to try and hit the gong. so the gun worked flawlessly however i messed up and forgot some crucial gear aieeeee!

Hopefully i can get out again this long weekend first light kinda thing to avoid the crowds.

Mine was delivered to my eager hands today, and boy, what a beauty!
Overall fit and finish on this rifle is top notch!
I installed an AFG2, Magpul MBUS sights, Daniel Defense muzzle brake, and Aimpoint M4 with magnifier clone (until I can come up with the funds for proper optics.).
As fantastic as this rifle is, I do have one dislike; the trigger on this thing is as gritty as sandpaper. Hopefully it will smoothen out over some time otherwise I guess a trigger job will be required.
Anyone else run into this issue?

Cheers,
Peter
