yeah mine was gritty too I didn't have the patience to wear it in so i polished the surfaces and boy what an improvement. out of the box it was gritty to the point when you pull the trigger slightly and then let off it wouldn't slide back into the beginning point. not a huge deal these ar 15 triggers are all mostly like this from what i gather. however that being said i bought a rock river LPK and the trigger and hammer surfaces are smooth as silk. I kept the DD trigger though cause after i polished it it is very smooth and the springs are fairly light. it went bang everytime i pulled the trigger and the casings were all in the same general 3 o clock position. the casing deflector shows wear right at the tip i inspected the brass and there were no dents in the brass and the rims were in good shape too. all i did to it was polish the sear surfaces and oil it with regular gun oil.

I installed an AFG2, Magpul MBUS sights, Daniel Defense muzzle brake, and Aimpoint M4 with magnifier clone (until I can come up with the funds for proper optics.).
As fantastic as this rifle is, I do have one dislike; the trigger on this thing is as gritty as sandpaper. Hopefully it will smoothen out over some time otherwise I guess a trigger job will be required.
Anyone else run into this issue?

Take the trigger apart and clean it up...

I was looking at DD rifle today at Lanz....really nice and very well put together.wish they were around a decade ago and especially for that price.
 
If you do not like the trigger pick up a SSA-E. Makes a world of difference. Otherwise the stock triggger will improve with use. Love my DD carbine!
 
Mine arrived yesterday. Amazing rifle and the quality seems very good so far though my experience with ARs is limited. I spent the evening playing with it until my better half made me put it away. I did notice the trigger is rough but I figure it'll break in a bit.

One thing I didn't even consider is that it wouldnt come with a magazine. Guess I gotta get on ordering some PMAGs so I can get out to the range.

Congrats, they are pretty sweet. Pmags and some LAR15 or XCR 10rnd pistol mags. :)

I tried polishing my trigger/sear and it's a lot smoother now but still has just a hint of grit which I figure should work itself out over time or a new Geisselle SSA or SSA-E whichever comes first.
 
Same here.. Got it on Tuesday. The trigger was rough and gritty, but as everyone else said will have to use it for a bit. Can't wait to shoot it tomorrow :)
 
i have heard of people putting a lapping compound on the trigger and hammer surfaces and this will eventually polish it from use as well.
 
Don't use lapping coumpound; just put some grease on the trigger/hammer mating surfaces. I did this to mine and it improved things considerably.
 
Hmm, so, turns out other manufacturers ship guns with crappy triggers too? Geez. Who'd have thought it.

I guess we've all just learned to suck it up and fix them this time around instead of whining to the Internet?

People are complaining. But when the fix is easy and doesn't require changing parts then it's at least something that you can live with. Sounds like everything else on the rifle is very good.

Yup, everything else on the rifle is top notch.
I had it out to the range today to sight in and it performed flawlessly. I put 150 rounds through it and had no issues what so ever.:D
I have been working the trigger over the last couple of days and it as smoothed out somewhat. It's no Geissele trigger, but it feels more like the triggers on my old Stag Arms carbines.
I am quite happy with the DD.

I unpacked a new DD last week. Everything was good except the trigger was the worst I have ever used.

I put on a dab on non-embedding lapping compound and pulled it about 100times. then I cleaned it and put on a dab of hi-moly grease. Now it is smooth. A lot of creep, but smooth and usable.

I am going to take the 3X scope off and put on the 12X I use for ammo testing and shoot it off a bench. I am hoping it will group better than my Norc, which has been a bit disappointing in the accuracy dept. That said, all I shoot is CQB, so accuracy is not really an issue.
 
Just got my DDM4 V5 today and I am blown away by the quality as well as by the accuracy. I can't believe this rifle was only $1500.

The trigger is a little gritty and so is the charging handle but it will smooth out over a couple hundred rounds.

I decided to buy it last Wednesday. I called the store in the morning at about 9am. My Saskatchewan CFO had the transfer approved by 1 pm, emailed me my new Transfer Notice and an updated LTATT that included the new rifle. The rifle was shipped Thursday morning and Monday afternoon I was putting rounds down the range.

I truly feel for you guys in provinces with unfriendly CFOs. I don't understand what their deal is.

The rifle is top notch. I was feeding it American Eagle, 55 grain FMJ and it shot sub MOA...and I am not an extraordinary shooter...

I can't recommend it enough.

Did I mention that the finish is a work of art and it's so light that at first I though I got an airsoft version by mistake?...LOL...

I ordered mine on Sunday, shipped today, got approval on the transfer on Monday. I take it you got it from the shooting center? Can't wait to get mine, Saskatchewan is awesome for short waits.

I think the answer is: Top Teir NA AR-15s are allowed to be less than perfect. Other than top tier or foreign are not. :nest:

Meh, gritty AR triggers are easy to fix / break in / replace. Not at deal breaker regardless.
