Military specification for pull weight is 5.5-9 lbs. After greasing the contact surfaces, my trigger breaks cleanly at about 7.5 lbs; at the middle of the specified range.
AR triggers are normally heavy by bolt action standards; these aren't benchrest rifles. If you want a lighter trigger, pony up for one of the Geissele triggers. Trigger jobs on the standard parts run the risk of cutting through the case hardening.
I wouldn't mind my trigger being a couple pounds lighter, but I plan on running at least 1,000 rounds through it before I seriously entertain any changes. Triggers often improve with use.
