Military specification for pull weight is 5.5-9 lbs. After greasing the contact surfaces, my trigger breaks cleanly at about 7.5 lbs; at the middle of the specified range.

AR triggers are normally heavy by bolt action standards; these aren't benchrest rifles. If you want a lighter trigger, pony up for one of the Geissele triggers. Trigger jobs on the standard parts run the risk of cutting through the case hardening.

I wouldn't mind my trigger being a couple pounds lighter, but I plan on running at least 1,000 rounds through it before I seriously entertain any changes. Triggers often improve with use.
 
Quick question to all DDM4 owners:

What kind of factory ammo are you using without any issues?

I have been having lots of issues with reloaded ammo due to the tight chamber on my DD M4V5. I also read on the AR15 forums that Daniel Defense does not recommend using steel cased ammo, only brass case ammo.

Same for factory rounds.

I've also run a bunch of MFS through it too without issue (other than ammo issue). Also ran some match grade factory stuff without a hitch either.

A friend shot a couple of Norinco ammo and also MFS without issues. However it was only 5 shots, which is not enough to determine if it will be reliable or not.

I've been looking online for the factory ammo you mentioned and so far I found the following prices with taxes in:
- MFS: 34 cents per round (SFRC)
- American Eagle: 38 cents per round (SFRC)
- Norinco: 39 cents per round (Canada Ammo)

Are there any better prices out there?

Definite possibility. At the very least I'll be trying my hand at it after I get a suitable amount of ammo accumulated. I plan on using irons anyways to begin with.

Very tempted to see if I can get a shorter rail for less weight,and because I don't plan to attach a bunch of stuff, and so I can use a front sight gas block. It just doesn't have the same flair without the iconic FSGB.

Depending on where you're located Canada Ammo might be one of the best deals since they throw in free shipping.

Wolf ammo from Budget Shooter Supply is also a great deal, but non-reloadable.

I can't speak for factory ammo, but I have had satisfactory results with reloads I happened have on hand using the following bullets :

-Hornady 55 grain FMJ
-Nosler 55 grain Ballistic Tip
-Sierra 40 grain HP

I have also found that Remington 55 grain Power Lokt HP is not suitable for 1:7 barrels. I could not get these bullets consistently on the paper at 100 or 200 yards. I moved into about 7-10 yards for some close range drills and found the bullets keyholing, leaving comet tails, and, in one case, the paper captured one of the bullets disintegrating in mid flight in the form of a much larger, ragged hole surrounded by a grey lead smudge. This reinforces my belief that bullet suitability for fast twist barrels is more a factor of bullet construction than weight/length.

Also, after a few hundred dryfires, my trigger has improved from 7.5 lbs I previously mentioned to less than 6.5 lbs.
 
Im a HUGE DD fan tried the rest now I only buy the best LOL.

But really I think bang for buck DD is the best. I do have a spikes AR comin that im guna test see if Iwill have to cheerlead DD and spikes.
