Hello,

I recently picked up a DD MK18 that is configured to 300 BLK. It has a 9.5" barrel with a Dentler brake. I have yet to fire it but the previous owner says with 220 g subsonic it's nearly hearing protection safe.

I do not reload and with the current price of 300 BLK and availability I'm thinking of finding a 10.3" DD MK18 barrel 5.56.

Any thoughts on where to locate one or do I just purchase an upper?

Your thoughts are appreciated.

Wolverine, RDS are sold out of the DD barrels. RDS has some Rainier Arms 10.5" in stock for $329. and SGW has some Aero 10.5" for much less.

How do the Noveske barrels hold up against DD barrels?

I think most would say that Noveske barrels are superior to DD. DD barrels are pretty darn good though. I think when you factor in cost, I would choose the DD as they are considerably less expensive but still a great barrel.

All my DD barrels have shot MOA or better with custom reloads. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another DD barrel. It's a good middle of the road price for an accurate CHF chrome lined barrel.

Just sold my 7.5" setup, shot for 5 months.

I would pick DD over Noveskes all day. The DD is a tougher pipe which will exceed the life span of a stainless Noveske.

Based on a quick check, the noveske is at least double the price of the DD. My DD mk18 barrel is more than accurate enough for my needs. I'm not even sure about what advantages the Noveske has over the DD regarding accuracy, durability or longevity. I don't think I'll ever shoot well enough or long enough to prove that its worth the premium. I I was building a plinking AR that I'd only be shooting occasionally (100 rounds a month) and never a competition rifle, I'd be even tempted to buy a cheaper barrel than the DD.
