Searched around the web including M4carbine.net and AR15.com without much success...maybe you guys can help me out? Im planning on building another upper and was wondering if the DD RISII rail would be compatible with the Larue Stealth upper receiver since its thicker than a normal receiver?

Perfectly OK

Thanks!:D looks like I wont be fulfilling my new years resolution of not spending too much on guns now haha. Thats a nice AR you got there btw! how was the installation process for the RISII?

Wicked easy. You do need to use the DD lite rail barrel nut wrench with an action block and a vise but it went pretty smooth. Just FYI the two bottom screws are shorter then the other four and just like the lite rail, the bolt up plate will be loose when you've tightened the barrel nut down... it tightens up when you bolt on the rails.

Very solid set up. I opted for the 9.5" MK18 version to keep the weight down.

That's just the one I want for my SBR....

Waiting for One Shot to get them in.

umm... for some reason my DD Lite rail wrench that I ordered specifically for the RIS 2 at the same time did not fit my RIS 2 barrel nut which was too big for the wrench. I ended up using the RRA CAR butstock armorer tool to install it and it worked fine. I dont know if things have changed, but mine was made in September 2008 and I believe one of the first ones to be imported.

The wrench is tight and appears to be slightly tapered. I had to flip it around and use it the opposite way I normally would. I thought it didn't fit initially as well. All my stuff is Sept 08 as well.

the specs on that upper was:

Noveske 10.5" SS 1-7 twist Crusader Barrel
LMT Upper, Charging handle, with LMT S/A Bolt Carrier
Knights NT4 Adaptor Flash Supressor
Daniel Defense RIS 2 Mk18 Model

By far one of the finest Hand rail and upper I have owned. Sadly I sold it to buy a KAC SR15E3.

I will be building one of these again in the near future hopefully with a 11.5" 1-7 CHF barrel, KAC triple tap
and vltor MUR.

I have a RISII FSP sitting in the drawer for awhile but I haven't put it together yet. I personally like URX better - after building a few URX uppers. The design is definitely stronger and more elegant. However, their GL compatible barrel nut is a PITA if you want to build a "cool looking" upper with the gas block under the hood.

The DD design is easier to install and repair, but the 6 bolts at the receiver end depends on integrity of the aluminum cut-out of the extrusion tube. Also the bottom rails depends on the 4 machined screws only. Both Troy and URX has the bottom rail held on by rails and spring loaded detent. I also find it interesting DD GL attachment point will transmit all the stress from the steel screw to the aluminum it is attached to. On the other hand, if a DD rail is damaged, it is super easy to replace it without unscrewing the barrel. This is very attractive from maintenance point of view.

IMHO, DD is a second best solution to KAC URX. However, URX is such a PITA to get, and even more of a PITA to install because KAC is not making the tools easily obtainable, especially with the GL compatible barrel nut.
