Danner Boots

Melee 8" GTX® Uniform Boots

The CF might be changing to tan boots though.

Not might, they are changing for sure. They already started issuing them here at CFB Kingston. What sucks is that they picked a dark earth brown color quite different than what the US troops are using. I doubt any manufacturer will ever make aftermarket boots for the CF in that color so everybody will eventually have to stick to standard issue boots.

I don't want to change the topic but the CF always seemed to have sub par boots, at least when I was in. I wore Danner's, I still have a unused pair. So how is this new boot doing?
any feedback from members? I would be interested for work.

They likely meet/exceed the standards, but without that little piece of green fabric...

They do exceed the standards but Danner has no interest in tooling up to stitch on a little green triangle for the sake of such a small market. As one of, if not THE best bootmaker in the world I can't say that I blame them but it is a shame.

Well isn't that just f'n dandy. Got 3 pairs of SWATS (regular, waterproof and saftey), pair of blackhawks and a pair of oakleys. How do they expect us to keep them clean and looking proper?

I got the TFX GTX Mojave about a month ago. Ordered from Danner directly as I couldn't find any locally. So far very happy with them for work and hiking, with superfeet insoles (originals didn't have much support). Put them through their paces on the weekend through all the mud, water and snow I could find, and my feet were still dry at the end of the day. They are comfortable, light and flexible, although I'm worried that will be a potential downside with a heavy pack, as I can feel the trail already without a heavy load. Traction is good both ascending and descending in most conditions, except for ice and transitioning from very wet terrain to dry rock, though to be fair, that's probably the case with most boots.

Edit: Not sure if I should be commenting since I didn't purchase from you, but thought the info might be useful for someone who is.
