I had an opportunity to order some Danner Canadians at an incredible price so I jumped on it. The reviews online seem great, but has anyone here ever tried them?? Thoughts, concerns?? Thanks!

Ordered directly from Danner through my wife's benefit plan. I get custom orthodics and 3 pairs of shoes (from selected manufacturers) for $30.

They look very similar to the Fort Lewis boots without the speed laces and the Canadians are brown and not black like the Fort Lewis.
I have the Acadias 22yrs(same pair) and a pair of the Fort Lewis.. great boots, but heavy yes.
Not the best boot for stalking bambi in the woods or trying to sneak up on a bear on a logging road either, but great boots over all.

I'm on my second pair of Super Rain Forests, similar to the Canadian but with a different sole and uninsulated. They are very well made and take some time to break in completely. I find them to be a great general purpose boot but are lacking ankle support if you are hiking really tough terrain.

I have two pairs of Danner boots.
A 9" top and a 12" top.
They are superb boots, and I am not super easy on my hunting footwear.
Buy with confidence.

Tough, heavy and will last a lifetime. Not great backpacking or extended hiking boots. I switched to Meindl's and the difference is incredible. Meindl's are lighter, more supportive and flex where they're supposed to. I log a lot of miles in and out of hunting season and the Danners always felt like I had bricks strapped to my feet. Never leaked though and the construction is top quality. Cheers,

Patrick

Have owned a pair of Danner Canadians for almost 20 yrs.
As already mentioned they are a great boot. A bit heavy but mine have served me well, never leaked, and are warm (if active) in cold weather.
I treat mine with Obenauf's Heavy Duty LP.
Enjoy your new boots.

The boot construction is fantastic - rebuild with soles when they go. I have logged many miles and only have one complaint and that is the airbob sole.

In most conditions it works fine, but with certain snow conditions it balls up and freezes. you then walk around on frozen ice balls. I rarely wear them for this reason, as they have insulation for later season.
