Sorry for all the questions. All your insight and experiences have been very helpful. I have all my parts on the way except for my receiver. Now now my question is... is the dar 22 worth the cost? Once I buy the receiver Plus the vblock, I'm up to the same price as a base 10 22. Then I could sell the parts I don't use and it would be much cheaper. Also how is dlask for shipping? are they fast? Or can it take weeks? Do they usually Have in stock whats on their web site?because I've been calling to ice them for a few days now and they never answer and haven't been responding to my emails.

i have 2 Dlask receivers and i love them.
the guys at Dlask are super busy and they are a small operation and do everything from design to make to ship.
they seem to do their shipping all on one day.
i know a few times my item has shipped the same day ive purchased it and other times ive had to wait a week for it to get shipped out.
i have yet to get a reply to them via email.
but i get them every time i call them.
i really like their stuff and i consider it to be the top quality that you can get made in Canada, i wouldn't hesitate to purchase anything from them.

I JUST finished putting mine together... The only thing Ruger on mine is the magazine at this point. I ordered my DAR22 receiver on June 12th and received it last week. I felt that was a decent turn around time really. I wasn't in a big hurry for it. Considering now long it can take to get a barrel in, a couple of weeks on the receiver isn't bad!
I would buy there again. I did a build on a Dlask sterling receiver a few months ago. It is built to tighter specs then the Ruger receiver for sure. I put a green mountain barrel I had made into the receiver and it was a very tight fit. Nice though. Its my most accurate build ever.
Yup... the barrel isn't coming out and the V block kinda feels pointless! I used a KIDD barrel and it required a little gentle(ish) persuasion.

I don't see any reason for an appology for asking questions, I am rather glad that you did as the answers given in this thread are persuading me to look into getting the DAR22 SS reciever. My ER Shaw barrel would have to be frozen to put it in, but if the fit is as tight as plpfromnb says, then that is just what I want (she's got some barrel droop going on right now, Signature ZEE rings otw!), and the reciever is the only "Ruger" part left on it
The only thing I regret about that receiver is the built in rail. My build is with a 9 1/4" sporter weight barrel and a 20 mil low power scope. The rail is a fair bit higher then a factory receiver with the Ruger mount. Just food for thought with scope selection.
I haven't shot it yet but I had no issues installing it and it manually cycles very smoothly. Do you know what specifically the issue is people are having?

This is good to know! I wonder if I can get a SS DAR with just the tapped holes for a rail? I suppose I could always call and ask. I have low rings (unknown brand) right now with a Power Customs rail and the scope sits at a perfect height, but the Burris Signature ZEE 1" rings only come in Med height at the lowest so I don't want to make the scope sit higher then I have to regardless of having the insert kit.

I have called Dlask three or four times to ask this exact thing, because its what I want as well. Joe tells me he does not plan a production run of basic flat-top versions for some time. but then says to call back in two weeks and see?? I wondered if maybe one of the railed versions could be purchased and just have the integral rail machined/milled off, then have the clean top surface drilled and tapped. I am almost tempted to try this myself.
I'm planning on eventually getting a stainless steel one myself, but didn't see any on their website... The closest thing I saw was the "Sterling" one, but maybe I missed it.
As for the flat-top: I think they have some 30 MOA ones in stock, and you might be able to find a flat-top somewhere else, but probably not in stainless. I'm sure you could just cut off the top rail and drill/tap new holes... Who knows, they might even be willing to cut the rail for you. Just remember that the Dlask receivers have a thicker top than the Ruger receiver, so I think your rail will sit a little higher up regardless... Might only be a tiny bit, but it could be enough to notice. If that's the case, you may not actually gain anything by removing the integral rail and installing your own...

i run a Kid bolt in my Sterling Dlask receiver and its flawless.
runs as smooth as butter.
i actually sent my 2 Dlask Builds to Dlask to have the barrel put in they where so tight.
i didn't wanna have a mess up like i did trying to put a TS barrel in and getting it stuck then wrecked!

^ THAT is ###y! I was just talking to plpfromnb and I may very well go with the SS (sterling silver) reciever w/ picatinny rail (assuming that is the same one pictured above?). As much as I would like to keep my scope as close to the barrel as possible, the burris ZEE rings ought to allow me to zero in somewhere handy to the middle of my MOA adjustment range of the scope and I can avoid squeezing the wisdom teeth out of my upper jaw just to properly align my eye w/ the scope. I have no problem sending the whole gun to Dlask to install it for me either, at least if adjustments need ot be made they have the tools/expertise to do it on the spot.
Now if Dlask ever made a chrome DAR22 reciever, and a Canadian company could fab a carbon fiber "Tacticool" stock, I would totally max out my VISA to have them!

just got back from the range... the KIDD bolt in the DAR22 receiver cycled bulk high velocity and standard velocity SK Rifle Match perfectly without issue and without me having to do anything other than put the bolt in the receiver. Happy Camper!
