I'm pondering my eventual custom 10/22 options and I'm wondering what the thoughts are on getting this vs a OEM reciever.

Financially it seems to be pretty much the same cost as an OEM reciever and custom barrel. What are the cons of going this route?

What about Sporter vs target chamber? I love going to the range and punching holes in paper as well as competition. From what I understand the target chamber will prevent me from using cheap ammo but will also maximize the benefit of the expensive ammo. Does the target chamber prevent using cheap ammo all together or will it just make it more prone to feeding or extraction issues?

I can speak to the receiver choice. I think the Dlask is a much better option. The receiver is cut from billet and is way higher quality. The integral rail on the Dlask is also much nicer for scope mounting.

There are only downsides going with a Ruger, Dlask is superior in every way.

I agree with coleman, get the DAR22 if you want the best precision 1022. The target chamber gives you potentially a slight edge in accuracy but in a semi-auto I would stick with the sporter chamber. You have less chance of getting failure to chamber problems when the chamber gets dirty, and it will with an open bolt system.

Dlask is an OEM.

But if you are referring to the original Ruger 10/22 receiver, I can assure you that the Dlask receiver is head and shoulders above the Ruger unit... comparing the sleeved actions, the threaded receiver is that much better again.

The threaded Dlask does away with the dreaded V-block design and properly attaches the barrel to the receiver with a secure threaded connection, so that's of course a major plus already. It's a far better design than the OEM Ruger receiver, plus it's milled out of superior 7075. The only downside is that once you commit, there's no changing things unless you have Dlask fabricate and fit you another barrel...so spend some time carefully deciding on the length and profile you'd like because you're pretty much stuck with it.

Personally I'd go with the sporter chamber for reliability reasons, and use whatever Eley the rifle seems to like. If it was ultimate accuracy you were after, you'd be building a bolt gun, not a semi, right?

As the others have said, Dlask makes a superior product in every way.
I have Sporter chambers on my DAR 22s and they are very accurate and very reliable with all ammunition I have tried (and that's a lot, including a lot of crap).
The threaded design is likely superior vs the v block but Dlask does a great job of fitting each barrel individually to the reciever so I don't know how relevant it is on their 22.
If accuracy is your main concern then get the threaded with target chamber.
I don't think you'll be unhappy with the accuracy from either.
Both my 12.5s like CCI and S&B standard velocity and Eley of similar listed velocities and weights 40 grain at 1070 fps if I recall.
