Bought a DAR22 receiver.

Tried 4 different barrels and none of them would fit in the receiver.
The barrel shanks wouldnt go in as well the outer barrel couldnt pass by either.
Had to clearance the area around the barrel near the V block and support area and I also had to remove some material from the barrel chamber area so it would fit into the receiver.

Now that the barrel is fit to the receiver the receiver wont fit in any of the 6 stocks I have....oem or aftermarket. All of my other Ruger receivers fit fine in all of these stocks.

WTF???

Is this common for the DAR receivers?

Im not even sure where the receiver is interfering so as not to seat??

Huge fail for Dlask as far as Im concerned.......

I wold tell them about it and maybe swap out receivers. Mine is tight and required a bit of tapping to get my barrel in but not to the point of needing to remove any aluminum from the receiver. I'd call them up man

mine have all been a snug fit but no modifications have been required. I have dar receivers in a huge stock, body stock and a factory ruger stock and it find in all of those as well the body stock required a very minimal amount of light sanding. Phone Dlask they will help you figure it out.

I would call Dlask. They have FANTASTIC customer service.
I had issues with a barrel I bought from them fitting to a stock Ruger receiver. I contacted them and had them inspect everything. I ended up having them install the barrel in a Dar22 receiver. I had to sand my stock plastic Ruger trigger housing in one area to get it to fit in the receiver. Everything fits Nice and snug just as it should.
Give them a call.

same as above, ive got 2 of them, one i had them seat the barrel and one i did myself.
was snug but went in fine.
as for fitting into stocks ive had them in the stock ruger stock and Hogue and 2 types of Boyd wood stocks and have never had to do any modifications to get them to fit.

ill echo above, call Joe he will set your right im sure.

I replaced the dar barrel with a longer Gm barrel. The dar barrel wasnt that snug. To say the gm barrel was snug is an understatement. It shoots extremely well though which I attribute to the Super snug fit

I bought a DAR receiver and tried to fit a Green Mountain heavy taper 16" barrel to it. There was no way, after many rounds of heating the receiver and cooling the barrel, that this was going together, and I was not comfortable sanding the tang more than a very small amount. I called Dlask and they asked me to send it to them. I got it back a week later, on their tab. It's been a great shooter.

Well....I solved the issues on my own.

As for barrel fit in the receiver.....I didn't want to disturb the hard anodizing of the receiver so I emery papered the barrel shanks while in the lathe enough to get them to fit....they are still very snug.....and will now be a bit less than optimally snug in an oem Ruger receiver.
The other fit issue was that the outside barrel aspect was hitting everywhere on the bottom of the receiver in the semi circular area where the action screw area is as well as the top of the barrel area where it meets the receiver.....this ENTIRE area needed to be clearanced...significantly in some spots to allow the barrels to seat....3 different brands of aftermarket barrels...all exactly .920.

I used a dremel with a drum shaped bit.

The DAR22 wouldn't seat at all in any of the 6 different oem Ruger stock or a Choate and BC folder.....not even close to going in.
Need to clearance out material from both the rear receiver pocket and especially where the front shoulders of the receiver meet the stock(s).

So ......piss poor engineering IMO. These dimensions should be both easy to spec as well as don't require to be oversize at all on the 1022 design.
Pretty unhappy to pay good money for an "upgraded" receiver that both requires the effort that it did but most importantly is not a drop in fit...especially for stock fitment....I modded/fit two different stocks to accommodate the DAR22 receiver and they now work well....but will have to do same going forward if/when I change out stocks.

GREAT receiver otherwise....and the integral weaver rail....well Ruger should have been doing this a LONG time ago.........the pathetic lil shallowly threaded holes in a soft ally receiver that afford a few thread pitches of purchase...really??

Again...great receiver other than the needless oversize dimensions and associated fitting grief.....its a freakin 1022...the ease/user friendliness of its construction are one of its main appeal.....especially the platform's ability to mix/match components.

sounds like you got a lemon all right.
it happens from time to time.
i would have sent it back to Dlask and asked them what they thought of it.

In hindsight that's exactly what I should have done....its done now and assembled ...and I have 2 stocks slightly inletted for it.

Having done a bunch of Dlask builds I can say it is very common for barrel to reciever fit is ultra tight. Did you heat the receiver and freeze the barrel? Also with the stocks, the Dlask receiver is larger and is super tight fitting. Yes, removing some material from the stock ensures proper bedding.
It's built that way.
Ruger tolerances are loose as sh*/! Dont confuse well built with massive production.
