Hi CGN

Looking for some user/customer feedback on Dlask DAR22 builds and parts in general. Figure, they are on our native soil so I'd like to source from them. Looks like I do not need to buy a ruger (ok ok I have 3 already) but rather source all the parts and put my own together.

Or, I could get a base DAR22 model and then upgrade. I would like the single stage trigger for sure from KIDD, other than that Dlask parts seem to cover everything else off.

So, who has one, who has shopped with Dlask, what do you think of their parts, quality and service? Are their barrels loaded with barrel blanks or are they rifled direct? Anything and everything dlask please!

Cheers,

I have only just started buying parts from them and am extremely happy with the quality and service. Can't remember the name of the guy I've talked to on the phone but he sure knows his stuff. Delivery times are freakishly short. Have not ordered barrels as of yet.

If you purchase a barrel and receiver of theirs at the same time they will fit it for you which saves a lot of time and pain if you don't have a lathe, as my understanding is they machine their receivers to minimum spec and barrels are machined over max spec so they can be fitted down to any 10/22 or aftermarket receiver. I have just received all my parts from them and haven't assembled the rifle yet (still waiting for my stock from Boyds) but everything looks well made and well finished so far. There was a bit of a hiccup in my order (sent me a wrong part) but they made it right.

Currently have two DAR-22 rifles that have aftermarket barrels. One has a 16.5" Kidd Ultralight barrel and the other has a Volquartsen 12.3" Charger barrel. Both have the Kidd single-stage trigger and all Kidd internal parts (except bolt). Both were built by Leigh at Dlask. All of my DAR-22 builds were built and shipped the same day (maybe cause I’m local?) ;)
Accuracy has been great as well, probably cause I’m running the best barrels I can get for them. I’m sure the Dlask Green Mountain barrels are just as good though. PM me your email if you want pics or other specific details.

I agree with getting the rifle built by them. I bought all my parts (mix of Dlask and Kidd) from around the country and with them, and you'll be extremely happy you got the barrel fitted into the receiver by them... Otherwise everything else is easy, but having the experts do it for you guarantees proper fitting for all parts. Plus, you can have the fun of attaching a new scope/rings.

Dlask stuff is top shelf.
you arnt going to find a better receiver either in Canada or the US.
their barrels are Green Mountain blanks that they do up themselves, chamber cut, length, ect ect.
their barrels are i guess what youd call tier 2?
they are fantastic but there are a couple that are a little better - Kidd and VQ i would say are probably a tad better.
not saying anything is wrong with the Dlask barrels, hell, i run 2 of them, haha!

a mix of Dlask and Kidd parts will give you a god level 10/22 no doubt.
i love both mine and i will never sell them.
im thinking of making one last one in fact, with a Kidd barrel.

Unless you are very handy and comfortable with mechanical things I'd get it already made. Sometimes things need finessing and you may not realize it. Let them build it and theres a much better chance that it will work properly.

Nice work North..you are becoming the 10/22 expert around here :)

Thanks guys,

It never hurts to ask around, that is why we have this great forum is it not?

Super sweet pics - yes addict/expert are interchangeable lol - I'm quickly becoming an addict with (more than I care to admit) invested in 10/22s already - I'm looking for that next level of performance and Dlask, Kidd and that 'V' company continually come up in my research.

What I'm thinking (and ya, they can put it together for me!)

DAR-22 Receiver with 30 MOA and Integral Picatinny Rail - $249.99 (It's getting optics, so may as well remove another potential moving part in the standard screw on rail)
Dlask Arms CNC Bolt for 10-22, Micro Diamond Design - $149.99 (I just like the look of it) - these come complete with firing pin and extractor I believe
Kidd 10-22 Bolt Buffer - $10.99 (seems like a lot for so little)
Kidd Single Stage Trigger Pack - $329.99 (I don't understand why it cost so much, market demand etc I guess?)
Dlask 10 / 22® .920 .22LR 16.5", Matte Blued, Sporter Chamber - $189.99 (this runs all ammo - including 'stangars')
I will need pins to hold the trigger in the receiver
I will need a V-Block
I didn't see charging handles just springs on their site
The screw that holds the stock to the gun!

I was originally just looking for a extended charging handle for my latest 10/22 bull barrel and found Dlask. It seems they have everything in their parts section for dar22 except charging handles and stocks. I will need a charging handle. For stocks I have a choice already on hand of an X22 hunter or a Hogue overmold. Easy choice. I got a good bonus at work this year. Putting a build together is my treat to myself - and I'm sure my son will enjoy it too :D

advice, ideas, let the experience talk.

If it were me, I would change a few items on your list. The most important being the barrel. I would upgrade to a Kidd barrel, the Dlask sporter chamber is a high end plinker that feeds a variety of ammo well, but is not as accurate as a Kidd or other high end bentz chambered barrels in my experience. Of course if a high quality plinker is your goal, then ignore this advice. I would not get the 30moa rail (but then I only shoot at 50-100 yds) for 200-300 yd shooting it would be logical. I used to use the Kidd buffers, but have changed to 1/4" delrin rod and find them much easier to install.
Good luck with your new rifle.

Thanks, I will consider everything you have mentioned. This is supposed to be lazer accurate - so Dlask isn't the route to take - go for Kidd - the 30 MOA rail isn't so much for the 30 MOA, just integral rail - I didn't see a 0 MOA integral rail in their offerings - but I can always look again - none of this is set in stone - just the beginning of the journey - I'm at least 10 days before I start to order parts.

the Dlask barrels are super good but if your looking to make a bench gun, and thats what it sounds like your wanting, then yes, put out the extra $ and get a Kidd barrel right off the hop.
or, call Dlask and get them to cut a Bentz chamber barrel for ya.
thats what i have on my 18.5 Dlask.
but if it where me id just go Kidd barrel and you wont need to worry about the barrel ever again.
or source out a VQ barrel.

there is nothing wrong with the 30MOA receiver.
i have one on my gopher plinker and im only shooting 50m with that one, no problems.
and like you said, cuts down on adding a rail to the top.
plus lets be honest... when you put a rail - any rail - only the top that makes it a +MOA.

sounds like your got a super nice build layed out there.

im not sure why you didnt see the charging handles at Dlask
here they are
Kidd Charging Handles

here is your receiver cross pins (cheap $5 Dlask ones)

but why not go with some threaded Kidd ones, so much better and locks that trigger pack in nice and snug! CLICK ME!

and your bolt to hold the action to the stock. this Dlask one is nice because its a hex head instead of a ruger flat head which will butcher your stock. (Click Me!)

there ya go, my good deed for the day!

Yeah I would definitely recommend a Kidd Ultralight barrel. I started off with a heavy barrel but it’s not worth it. Even if you insist that it’s only a range toy, the light barrels balance much nicer. Makes it much more comfortable to shoot offhand. Also there might still be a day you have to pack the rifle somewhere and heavy barrels suck.

Talk to Leigh,

He’s built a couple for me. You won’t be disappointed. Kidd single stage trigger is a must also get the Kidd charging handle that is pretty sweet as well. I have zero issues with feeding and the Dlask barrel is plenty accurate. Gopher headshot 100 yards out all day long.

Here’s a more basic build for my son.
