Dark Eagle Custom 10-round mag for Savage bolt action rifles

The shipment of mags is actually supposed to arrive sometime today. It will arrive after the outgoing mail cut-off for the day, so tomorrow's the target. However, we printed out a HUGE pile of shipping labels last night in order to speed up the process of filling back orders.

As of right now there is literally one (1) magazine coming in that shipment that hasn't been snapped up in the back ordered items. So, for everyone who was sitting on the fence and decided to back order, you were very wise to do so!

We're hoping more magazines will be coming toward the end of May.

I've got some good news and bad news guys.

Good news: The mags arrived today.
Bad news: The exporter decided to pin the magazines to five (5) rounds.

Let me be perfectly clear, the magazines DO NOT need to be pinned to five (5) rounds. I'm truly sorry about this guys and gals, our exporter dropped the ball on this one :(

So ya gonna remove the pin as you sold us a 10 rd magazine for the savage rifle?. As that's what we paid for. At least post some pics of what we're getting for our big bucks.

Stuff happens, but it would be a big mistake to just ship the damaged magazines with a big sorry, blaming the exporter.

You might need time to think about it, but I suggest that you communicate the options that buyers have as soon as possible. I suppose that some buyers might accept the damaged magazines (with their capacity restored to 10) at a discount, but others might just want a refund and would be willing to wait for the next shipment. Depends on how they were pinned in large part, but every correct pinning I've seen was designed to be difficult to reverse, so that remains to be seen.

Although I'm disappointed, my priority was always function over form. If the pin can be easily removed, I still want the mag. I hope you're not considering rejecting the shipment without consulting your customers first.

Still expecting a magazine that was not damaged and full capacity, as advertised. This is why we are paying premium for those. I was all excited to received a tracking # and my CC was charged.
Hopefully this will get resolved quickly and I am sure that NR will make things right.

We acknowledge this is a problem, and trust us, we're just as disappointed as our customers are about this. Below is a picture of a 10-Round .308 magazine with rivet removed beside a 5-shot WSM magazine.

This picture shows the hole location. As you can see, it's not terrible or ugly, but it exists.

So could this now lead to charges of modifing a center fire magazine? We all know the powers that be are very knowledgeable on firearm laws and magazine modification (sarcasm). Are these magazine able to be dissassembled to remove any burs on the inside?. Don't want the platform and spring to be hanging up.

Turns out the RCMP fire arms lab has struck again. Apparently the fire arms lab had informed our exporter that ALL centre-fire rifle and shotgun magazines must be limited to five (5) rounds. In this case, that edict simply doesn't follow Section 84 of the Criminal Code.

E-mails asking for responses to resolution options have been sent out to all back ordered customers. If you ordered a Dark Eagle Custom 10-round .308 win Savage magazine and did not receive and E-mail, please contact us right away.

So does this mean that if we order new ones in 10rnds they will all be riveted at 5rnds???

We're trying to work around that notion. Frankly, these magazines don't work in any firearm other than bolt action Savage rifles. So, Section 84 of the Criminal Code should be crystal clear in this case.

So what is happening to prevent the rcmp from making the same mistake again? Are they even acknowledging that they messed up?

Out of interest, did you happen to get a copy of the communication from the R.C.M.P. and is the issue being followed up?
Sounds like a straight forward issue (or at least it should be) but not one that should be ignored me thinks.

OK, the directive to pin magazines was borne out of a meeting among CFO, RCMP firearms lab and exporter. It was explained at the meeting that all centre-fire magazines being imported into Canada must be pinned to five (5) rounds. The exception is if there is a FRT number for a particular rifle/shotgun indicating that said firearm was registered in the FRTs with a magazine that may have more cartridges. In other words, if you want to import a 7 round bolt action magazine, and there are only FRT numbers associated with 5 and 10 round magazines, you're SOL according to the CFOs, RCMP and CBSA. How this relates to the Criminal Code, I can't say.
