Dark Mountain Stowaway Rifle

I see that caliber change is possible. There are a number of calibers that would be interesting in the package.
Stock is fixed, so there is no issue with it being functional when less than 26".
16" barrel is US minimum; it could be shorter here. With a shorter barrel and stock length, it could be really compact when disassembled.
If the barrel is indexed, iron sights could be installed; more compact than an optic.
I see they make a pistol version as well.

The company website refers to caliber change only needing a barrel and boltface. I assume a bolthead that incorporates the extractor assembly.
The 5.7 cartridge is small diameter, and quite short. .222 too long? 221FB? .357? .30 Carbine? .17, .22 rimfires would require a rimfire firing pin arrangement. If the firing pin is a floater contained in the bolthead, that might be possible. Interesting that the striker must be manually cocked. That might suggest a floating firing pin - there doesn't appear to be a half c ock on closing.

MSRP listed at $399. US$399. What's that going to be? C$550? Not cheap.

I think as a modern take on older 22 hornet survival rifles it is pretty cool.

It would have to be able to chamber something longer to catch my interest though

I think they would be handy! More powerful than a 22wrm and you can reload them, probably really effective on small games up to 100m

Definitely interesting. Sure, $500 isn't supercheap...but what can you buy nowadays for $500 in the realm of new rifles?

I'm wondering what the LOP is? The stock is supposed to be fixed, so it doesn't fold and seems to not have any adjustability for LOP. The guy in one of the videos was firing it from a rest and was holding the thing with the buttstock a couple inches forward of his shoulder. He had his right hand holding the pistol grip and his left hand holding the buttpad.

Combine that apparently very short LOP with a very short Pic rail, and there might be problems for anyone with long arms and neck. I doubt I personally could get any kind of magnified optic on this gun without using a cantilever mount to throw the scope forward quite a bit...which would also raise the optic and mess up any hope of a cheek weld. Might be limited to red dot sights only?

Is this available here now i wonder?
Been stalking this thread since Oct. lastyear.

Would love to get me a .22lr and/or the .17hmr version.
