How can I do this? Just received my CC IUR combo and the lower is - as is the case everywhere I've read - a shade lighter than the upper. I've heard of people submersing it in gun oil overnight. Is that the best way? Could I not spray some G96 or Ballistol or Frog Lube on it and let it sit in a plastic bag for a few hours, or is there a better way to get the color darker?

It doesn't need to be submerged in a lot of oil. As long as there is a decent coating of it you should be good. Let sit for a while and wipe off excess. The bag of oil is what I did.

The end result will still be slightly lighter than the IUR.

On my AR receivers, I just warm them up with a heat gun and Froglube paste them. After the excess is wiped off, they're a slick looking satin black.
