Darn Grouse

But for me, its one-on-one - mano-a-wingo - heading into the Grouse's dense coverts - his home field and getting busted a bit by brambles or scratched/slapped in the face by alders --crawling through one end and have them jet out the other - wading through a cedar swamp to surprise them from a different route only to have nothing/nobody home - cause you know if you do your homework - can read the habitat - know their current food choices - you're eventually going to score - and that anticipation and the thrill of the hunt make it all worth while.

Dammit, now why did you have to cut to the chase like that when this could have gone on for DAYS!??

:D :D

My wife's a vegetarian, the first "fool hen" kill she saw was when we drove our van over one on the trunk road. I stopped, pulled it and bagged it. She couldn't believe any bird could be so dumb, if she only would try a fork-full she would just be thankful.

I got an e-mail from a friend of mine yesterday who was bowhunting for deer in Southern Ontario. He got this photo of a partridge while he was hunting from his treestand. This a real photo and is not edited at all. I still can't believe it.

lol.

Isn't that something.... well I guess them bush chicken's arn't as bright as we all though... well in that neck of the wood's anyway lmao!
nice! :D

I would grab that by the neck. Stupid bird. We usually snare our grouse, put a snare on the end of a stick and loop if over their head. Then give a quick yank. Works quite well!

Yeah... but here in Northern Ontario their just a little smarter then that. If your not quiet enough they will be long gone before you even come close to em. LiL forest ninga's they are :D

EDIT: I also realized how small this grouse is.. hmm, kid's these day's lol

The best road hunting I did once was aiming for a grouse doing the head down neck stretch run they do with the right front tire of my truck doing about 100 kms/hr on hwy 16. Plooof!!! feathers all over in the rear view mirror. I backed up and found the breast just fine and no sign of the head neck. Me da road hunin man :runaway:
