dating M70's

...I keep my Ruger M77 and the Model 70 in a locker of thier own...separate from the 700's and Sevens... here's another qustion:
I just picked up an '83 vintage (first year) Rem Model Seven with the steel floorplate and trigger-guard assembly. Read about them but it's the first one I've seen. How common are they?..and how many years was the Model Seven built with this setup?
I thought this would've helped, but then realized it only went to '81. I'll post it anyways for everyone else.

....incidentally...the guy I got it from replaced it with a nice Ruger M77 in 257 Roberts
