i have one of the Original Gold colored ones and i love it.
you can slap some fiber optic sights on it.
put a fancy comp on the barrel.
put a red dot on it.
some nice purple grips!

and they are a treat to shoot.
they are even better now that they are easier to take down for cleaning.

Buy a glock package off the EE with advantage arms kit. then have changed to purple. That way if she continues to enjoy shooting you can get the 9mm upper when she is older.

Smith and Wesson M&P 22, widely available for under $600 in Canada, eats all the ammo you want, should have easier disassembly than the Ruger pistols (other than the very easy MK IV) and you can get it cerakoted down the line. I would say it is one of the better options for her. Plus it serves as a trainer for a 9mm really, really well.

She gets the gun, you get it cerakoted for her as a present or something, badaboom badabing you're the cool dad.
 
A used matte finish buckmark could be an option too.

I have a light 22/45 which is much more compact but found the browning has less felt recoil due to the bolt design.

Just wanted to mention that CGN is truly a great forum and it has many amazing people.
With the help of one amazing gun nut we are getting her the MKIIII in purple from prophet river.
She doesn’t know and she is going to be surprised on Christmas Day

Don't know about you guys. But if the wife/daughter was 1) wanting to get a pistol and 2) wanting one purple. I would most certainly be going into "shopping" mode and be trying to subsidize it...
- Heck, I've bought guns just because the wife showed an interest in this or that model...
